Re: Instant Commits?
If something from NCAA Football 14 is missing, that's because it did not exist in a form which could be used on the new consoles, and EA Sports did not build out a new version.Comment

Re: Instant Commits?
I know people are going to be frustrated to hear this, but nothing was "taken out" of EA Sports College Football 25. It's the first game in a new series. Nothing from NCAA Football 14 was brought over because it wasn't possible.

Re: Instant Commits?
However, I'm talking about the game at a code level. I assume nearly all of the eleven-year-old old code base which powered NCAA Football 14 on consoles which originally released in the mid-2000s was entirely unusable for this new game.
For example, the PS3's CPU didn't even run x86, it was its own custom architecture. Sony didn't adopt x86 for the computing cores of their consoles until the PS4 was released. That's a significant difference in hardware with major engineering implications.Comment

Re: Instant Commits?
I would personally pull the "wait and see" approach here. I'm not so sure every feature is included; after all, they don't have to KEEP all features in CFB 25. And let's hope they don't keep Instant Commits if it works the way it did in NCAA 14. Not so much because it's not realistic from a real-life standpoint, but more because a low level coach had no chance at getting an Instant Commit, while half or more of the CPU could right way. I even seen the CPU do it if I lowered Levels to even at like 10 for all HC's.
While I'm at it, the worst feature that needs to be gone is Locksmith. That better be gone. I can say how many 100's of players I lost over 9~ years of playing '14 that made no sense. You are 1500 points up as Blue Blood program, only for a Ball State to use a Locksmith, gain most the points, have an Official Visit scheduled, then goes to Ball State. Then you double check the players top 3 interests and he had Program Prestige, Most; Championship Contender, Very High; and Pro Potential, High. Ball State would be a C or lower in all...lol Get that thing gone because it sucked.Comment

Re: Instant Commits?
Instant Commit was more a decision than a feature. I’m actually fine with it not being in because I’m not sure how realistic it is anymore. I think most players want to wait and see what other schools have to say now before signing somewhere. It felt gamey at the time and would worse now.
And agreed on lock pick. If it’s in the game it’s an absolute must have, and absolute must have perks are inherently bad if you want people to do varied play styles.Teams: Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Reds, Marshall Thundering Herd, Virginia Tech Hokies (2010 alum)Comment

At a design level, you are most certainly correct.

"But the old work has indeed proven useful. College Football 25 code, and visuals, are all rebuilt from scratch — there’s no way assets from two console generations ago would be serviceable on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. But concepts, spreadsheets, and some methodologies from the old game were still able to give developers, if not a head start, at least a nudge off the line to building the kind of game they could only dream of when it was canceled a decade ago.
'There was code that was helpful, but nothing was copy-and-paste,' McLeod said. 'We knew we would have to rebuild. But I know we had a lot of systems in Dynasty [mode] that we knew what the logic needed to be. So we’re almost getting a head start and a jump start at some of our designs, which was extremely exciting. And then we brought in some ringers, like [programming engineer] Felix Rivero, who had worked on Dynasty in the past, and they were able to, without missing a beat, go and code that into the new codebase, in the new engine, but using a lot of that same logic that we had in the past.'"
Anything in CFB25 that resembles NCAA 14 is just that - rebuilt to be similar to NCAA 14, instead of the code for it being brought straight from NCAA 14.NCAA: Georgia Bulldogs and Clemson Tigers

I agree it does happen in real life and should be somehow involved, but didn't care for how '14 did it. ALL coaches on ALL 134 teams need to have that instant commit access EVERY season if it's in this game.
And again, Locksmith better be gone. That was heavily flawed and not realistic.Comment

Re: Instant Commits?
I would recommend going back and playing several seasons of dynasty from NCAA 14. It was no decision, definitely a feature on Coaching Tree levels. If you offered a scholarship and had a maxed out skill tree for Recruiting, the player would just sign with no other effort put in. Literally right at the start of your recruiting season a bunch would sign after Week 1. CPU did the same but could do so even if levels were lowered to where all coaches were a level 10. That would have been impossible to have that tree maxed out if everyone was level 10. I didn't like it.

Re: Instant Commits?
I would be surprised if there weren't instant commits. Suppose I'm Michigan or Ohio State and I offer a one star in-state recruit a full ride, he isn't instantly in? If not, no big deal, not even a minor one for me, but I'd still be surprised if instant commits aren't a thing.Talk about things nobody cares.

As for the Instant commits, I'm down with it, as I said, so long as it's not loosely tied like in NCAA 2014. All schools have a small chance to sign players soon as starting a dynasty. I'm okay with the big dogs getting a few more and sooner, but that level 5 coach or small school coach needs a chance too.Comment

Re: Instant Commits?
Even though I can tell you're half kidding, 1 stars have no place in the game. I never did like that. give me extra 3 and 2 stars and have 1's called NR( not ranked) or something like that and most be walk-ons if this has to be a thing. And even then, the walk-ons should be to the caliber of your program and not 40-50 OVR.
