Hypothotical: The game has come out and has negative reviews. What went wrong?

This is just a fun thread for discussion and all just hypotheticals so let’s not read into much.

Hypothetically the game has come out and has awful reviews. What do you think the reasonings would be?

Bugs, systems that don’t work right (auto-subs come to mind), underwhelming audio, underwhelming player models (especially auto-generated recruits); questionable polling logic, leading to questionable playoff models, etc.

It could happen lol. I don’t think it will though. Everything is pointing to this being *at least* a solid 7/10 with an outside shot of them hitting a grand slam with it.

Well, since most reviews are not made by hardcore sim gamers that will find all the small issues with the game...

Probably because the game is broken and has a ton of glitches and bugs. Not really sure what else at this point. A lot of the Dynasty and RTG features and systems could have major flaws in them, but that might not affect user scores too much if they aren't found and known by most players within the first week.

This is the most likely option. Lots of crashes, can't connect to servers, audio/visual bugs, that sort of thing. Maybe stuff like stat totals not lining up. Outside chance it's bad playoff logic like in the old NCAA games where MAC teams would routinely make the BCS title game, but c a s u a l players won't care too much about that and we won't really have a feel on that until lots of people play several years of dynasty anyways. And unfortunately most c a s u a l players don't care about the editing stuff so that won't make a dent even if it is bad.

Yeah, I'm not concerned if it doesn't live up to others expectations, it just needs to live up to mine.

Undeniably true. However, if this game debuts with a 32 metacritic and a 1.9 user score, it will mean quite a bit. Certainly in the spirit of what the OP is asking.

That still wouldnt mean anything to me, or affect me in any way. I only need one college football game for the next eleven years. If CFB goes belly up after one year, they still cant take 25 back from me. All that matters is whether I find it enjoyable. And if dont, and even if those metacritic and user score ratings turn a 180 degrees with a 100 score, that wont sway me either. , I'lljust go back to playing MLB twelve months a year.

Usually it's some technical issue that picks up steam to lead to review bombing (assuming it's not some weird culture war stuff like with some non-sports games where all that weird ish goes down). So I would think it would be dynasty mode not working after X year or like the servers simply can't handle the load for online dynasty in the early days.

I think this reply covers a lot of what could go wrong or be lackluster on any scale range.

For me, I will say what I fear, and it has very little to do with the "big" things:
1) I don't play online. I would get slaughtered.
2) Being almost 50 and surprised at myself that I play on All-American and can do pretty good, I hope I (and other older gamers) can handle the speed of the game without being great on the sticks/have great stick skills.
3) The depth of the dynasty mode is, my Lord, super detailed. I just hope I can keep up with what matches what and factors compliment other factors.
4) The fact that we can't play any game we want in dynasty mode. I didn't start doing this until late. One of my favorite parts of dynasty. I never messed up another team's run to the natty. If 6-4 LSU had to play at 4-5 South Carolina, I might play that game during my bye week to see what super high rated players could do.
5) How badly will creating "unusual" custom conferences mess up the playoff model logic?

Why hypothotical? Judging by the new issues that pop up around here after every new video or info, this game seems to be a lost cause already.

The big issue for now is mass subs and formation subs, this could ballon into a ton of negativity quickly.
