Dynasty Seems Shallow & Empty Compared to NCAA 14

First off, I absolutely love the gameplay, atmosphere, and recruiting (even though some of the CPU logic is horrible). However, after starting a dynasty and exploring around, it seems to me it’s just recruiting and playing the games, nothing else.

Am I just missing it or is there no trophy room? I always loved looking back at all my trophies and trying to collect them all. If I win a NC, is the trophy just going to disappear forever after the ceremony?

No CPU vs CPU games? I always liked watching the top 5 matchups and especially the NC game if I didn’t make it.

No matchup preview? I always liked to bring up the comparison between me and my opponent that week and see what they were ranked in each offensive and defensive category, as well as their top players and what their stats were. Kirk’s pick of the week was always a nice touch too.

I’m sure this will be patched, but rankings and playoff seedings are completely broken. Every time I’ve simmed a season, half of the playoff teams are G5 programs. FCS schools regularly beat ranked teams.

Also, I know this will never return but I really miss saving highlights to look back on year by year, game by game.

Just kinda disappointed in what they described as the most detailed dynasty mode ever. Just seems like we recruit, play games, and look at Heisman watch and top 25 rankings. Not much depth other than that.

Good to know. I also enjoy (present tense) these things in NCAA 14. The ranking system seems as broken as NCAA 98 was, but in the opposite. In that game, you could customize your schedule and even remove your conference games. I took Marshall and scheduled every top 10 team. I won every game but never made it to the top 25 haha. I dealt with it. But I expect way more in 2024.

You have to remind yourself this is a relaunch NOT a continuation of NCAA. There are features in NCAA that aren't going to be in this game because they are building it up. It took 13 years or so before NCAA had a trophy room. Heck the series was 5 or so years old before it even had the heisman in it. Dynasty didn't exist in the beginning at all.

One of the concessions for the playoffs was more access for group of 5 teams. So that is being reflected.

I watched an interesting stream other day with old Dominion. Took him 13 seasons to reach playoff. He lost 1st round that year but made it the next in interesting fashion. He lost the sunbelt championship and had 2 losses and was ranked like number 22...but he had a wine over the number 2 team in the country so the committee put him in. I found that to be interesting.

I'm right there with ya. We know those things are never getting patched because they don't care about what the audience wants. It's justabout making the cheapest game that generates the most revenue.

Yeah I was just thinking of this. This game has so much hype that I’m afraid it will turn into madden. Pretty much just a roster update every year. If they’re making their money, then why change anything?

It's quite frustrating. You can't really compare stats. There's no PPG, YPG, rank of team rushing without manually calculating/counting.

Good news for me. I don't play 14, or 13. So I'm set

Yeah I was hoping I was just missing it somewhere. Going to really kill the replay value for me. At least Madden has a way to look back at past Super Bowl matchups & award winners.

The only thing I noticed briefly experimenting was poll logic was really messed up, I was simming as Michigan and had 4 losses at the end of the year but yet was #2 ahead of several one loss teams.

I don't disagree with some of your criticisms. There are a few things that I wish were in there, but it also has some things that the old game didn't. I think that NCAA 14 often gets looked at a lot with rose tinted glasses because it was the most modern game that we had for 11 years, but it was also receiving criticism when it was new. In a lot of ways it was nothing more than play game and recruit.

                    Pros:
-You can actually choose who your incoming OC/DC are or fire them if you don't like them. That's a pretty huge add imo.

-Recruiting; I'm going to assume(hope) that it gets patched and represents the challenge that they claim it will. As it stands, it has the same low lock cheese problem that NCAA 14 had. So, it isn't any worse there. It does have a more robust recruiting system that is more than just point allocation which I think adds some depth.

-Coaching trees are far more dynamic. We will have to see how it actually plays out, but the coaching skill tree system in NCAA14 was straight up terrible.

-Some of the historical stat tracking is cool to see.

-Wear and tear theoretically forces more roster management than past games

                    Cons:
-Like you mentioned, the lack of a matchup preview is a very odd and unfortunate oversight.
-I never watched Cpu vs Cpu games, but I can understand the appeal. Again, kind of odd that it is not available.
-No formation subs is inexcusable and kind of negates a lot of the roster management from the plus side of things above

So yeah. There are some +/- things going on with the new game. Kind of odd that some of those old things aren't in the game, but the old game itself was also pretty shallow.

I actually like the new recruiting better than 14. I read somewhere they were working on fixing the 4 & 5*’s not receiving scholarship offers, so that will make it even better.

What historical stat tracking are you talking about exactly? Like the records? I do like that they added conference stat records.

No CPU vs CPU is crazy. Can't imagine that's hard at all to implement. Wow.

Agreed on the recruiting if that wasn't clear in my post. I much prefer this style of recruiting vs what NCAA14 had. The background logic just needs to be fixed.

And yeah exactly that on the historical stat tracking. Rivalry records, getting to see the real school and conference records. Things like that. Definitely not as much as I would like, but they are nice touches.

The kick-off games are in, but you cannot manually schedule them, I believe.
