In the ACC, #18 NC State defeated #1 North Carolina 41-27 and was the #5 seed. #15 Liberty beat Jacksonville State 29-24 in the C-USA Championship Game and got the #4 seed. SBC has my #17 and undefeated ULM defeating Old Dominion 48-14. I dropped to #18 while Liberty rises from #15 to #4. #18 NC State only rises to #12 after defeating #1 North Carolina. This is very, very bad. I am heavily disappointed with this game.

CFP Rankings are broken
Just completed the Conference Championship Week in my first dynasty (ULM). Despite making the Pac-12 a 14 team league, they did not have a Conference Championship Game.

Re: CFP Rankings are broken
Sounds like the seeding logic is correct as Liberty would be a top-4 rank champ and gets a bye. The ranking logic to get there doesn’t read well as you said.Comment

Re: CFP Rankings are broken
NC State was 10-3 (including their win over UNC in the ACCCG) and went 3-3 vs ranked teams. Liberty was 12-1 in C-USA and 0-0 vs ranked teams. I was 13-0 in the Sun Belt and finished below Liberty. As stated, we entered the CCG week as
15 Liberty
16 Penn State
17 ULM (me)
18 NC State
Liberty was overrated at #15 and ULM should have been ranked higher based on playing in a tougher conference (Sun Belt raided C-USA recently) with the same record vs ranked teams.
There is simply no way #18 doesn't jump #15 after they beat #1.Comment

I’m in conference championship week and 7-5 Michigan is currently #6 in the CFP. I’m 11-1 Utah and am #14Comment

Re: CFP Rankings are broken
NC State jumped to 12 because they were the ACC champions who entered the ACC Championship game #18, but they beat #1 North Carolina.
Liberty jumped from #15 to #4 by edging unranked Jacksonville State by 4, but the top 4 conference champions get the top 4 spots.
Last year #8 Alabama jumped to #4 after beating #1 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game. Teams that defeat #1 usually jump at least 4 spots and in real life, NC State jumps to at least 12 (which they did only because they were required to make the playoffs).Comment

Re: CFP Rankings are broken
That is awful. The more I investigate, the more I think they have some calculation errors in the ratings because they make no sense.
In my dynasty #6 Oklahoma State beat #2 (11-1) Utah 35-30 in the Big 12 Championship Game. On one hand this is somewhat positive because in NCAA Football 14 and earlier, you would be #1 unless they were undefeated. It seems like the ratings might be tougher on a user team. I was undefeated at ULM and ranked 17, while 1 loss Liberty was 15. I played in a tougher conference as well and won at Auburn and Texas.Comment

CFP Rankings are broken
The ranking logic is absolutely terrible. I was ranked #3, 13-0 after winning the B10 championship, and 9-3 Michigan (Who I beat IN Michigan) was ranked #2 ahead of me. It’s terrible lol. (I was obviously a higher seed due to winning the conference, but they were ranked ahead of me lmao.) Dynasty is not super playable for me right now.
That being said, a lot of people (not saying you OP) misunderstand the way the playoff works. The 4 highest seeds are not guaranteed to go to the P4. They are guaranteed to the 4 highest ranked conference champs. So if Liberty is ranked #4 and a conference champ, they should be a higher seed. That being said, obviously, the logic is completely broken lol. There are also WAY too many upsets, which was a problem in NCAA 14 too.Last edited by GoDucks1224; 07-19-2024, 10:40 PM.Comment

Re: CFP Rankings are broken
Something the rankings do have going for them is they definitely take into account the quality of opponents you lost to. It just seems to play too big of a role. 7-5 Michigan only had one “bad” loss. Based on the other results in my dynasty then getting in at 7-5 isn’t that bad, but it should have been as the 11 or 12 seed. Same situation with 8-4 Alabama.Comment

Definitely applies too much weight to Big 10 and SEC schools. I know those are the top conferences, but it’s pretty insane that we have these 8-4 SEC teams above 12-0 ACC teams and such.Comment

The bowl games on the bracket are incorrect. The bracket said I was playing in the Rose Bowl but I’m actually playing in the Sugar BowlComment
