    Help defending outside runs/screens?

I feel like my defense keeps getting caught inside ok these plays no matter what I try.

I can stop it for a short gain sometimes but even then it feels like I'm close to giving up a 40 yard run if he can make the guy Im controlling miss.

Ive tried cover 2 Tampa with it audibled underneath coverage to bring zones closer. Have also tried outside and that doesn't work either. Everyone manages to get pulled inside and leaves a lot of space outside.

Im running a 4-2-5 defense if there is anything to recommend in that.

Well since noone has any ideas that probably speaks more loudly than any answer would have haha.

I'll workshop it some when I get off work and post what I come up with.

Show blitz helps. Being in Cover Zero does as well but it needs your pass defense
Honestly, a lot of teams have linebackers and safeties that are just too slow to handle the Jets and rpos from the hash. If you're in Road to CFP, you have to pick a fast, athletic defense or you're gonna give some outside plays up

        For Screens:

In 4-2-5 under you can use the LB Pass Rush Package to put both OLBs at DE

Maybe you can audible one of them, or both for a QB Spy for screens if someone online keeps doing it

Or assign one to spy and one of them to cover the HB with man coverage

This also helps with scrambling QBs, but they may have all day to throw since it’s only a 2 man DT rush. But at some point they’ll mess up and throw a pick lol

User LB and contain to funnel it back inside works ok for me. It's not perfect defense, and it shouldn't be because you gotta be able to run outside runs, but using a good football technique does help. If it's really bad, I'll take over an outside linebacker or nickle corner to contain the outside.
