I’m Florida playing a 7:30pm start time at FSU in late November and it’s still daylight. Which means the whole game is played in daylight. That game should definitely be a night game. The only way you’ll ever see a night game is with a 9pm start bc daylight savings isn’t being factored in. Even if this game did start during the day, they should make this a night game since most of it would be played in the dark.

Lack of night games in dynasty
I’ve come to accept no progressive lighting, but they need to at least correct the lighting at certain start times. I never see night games….

Re: Lack of night games in dynasty
This would be the most sensible solution to me. Always a fan of giving the people choices; it would also give EA some leeway in the event they made a starting time mistake. Seems like a win-win.Comment

thank you for sharing this. While i haven't started a Dynasty yet, this will be the #1 "Immersion Killer" if it happens. Especially playing NAT'L games in 'prime time' or schools in the west that play alot of night games. PLEASE fix this EA (ideally via letting us override the time of day at game set-up screen). This stands to be my #1 patch request.Comment

Re: Lack of night games in dynasty
Yes, the weather in this game is ridiculous, as it was in 14. I lived in Charlotte for 3 years and we never had a December snow. Once every three years in 14 it would snow for the ACC Championship Game and/or the Belk Bowl. In this year's release I have played 4 consecutive rain games. The bad weather games are mostly cosmetic and don't seem to have an effect on the game.Comment

Re: Lack of night games in dynasty
I've never understood the blatant over confidence those working on the game have. It's fine to take away workarounds if you get things like this right, but to not let us fix something that you get wrong is baffling.
I fail to see what's so wrong with "You can set the weather for any game you want!" Is this somehow tied to NIL too?Last edited by fnz21; 07-29-2024, 12:04 PM.Comment

I’ve noticeably seen more fumbles by me and my opponents in rain games (I’ve played as Louisiana, ECU and UAB so I haven’t seen a snow game yet).Favorite Teams:

Re: Lack of night games in dynasty
There's a mental ability which reduces the effect of weather on a player, The Natural.
To that end, I have to assume that weather affects players without this ability in some way.Comment

Whether this is the best game design choice to make for the game, reasonable minds might beg to differ; it is certainly a valid choice to make, however.Comment

Re: Lack of night games in dynasty
The game designers made a willful decision that users of their game are roleplaying as football coaches, not as an all-powerful being who controls the weather. NIL has nothing to do with it; football coaches don't decide the weather of the games in which their teams play.

not when a prime time 8pm game is being displayed in broad daylight it's not.Comment

I understand that the game isn't there for me to play god, but if people wanted to play 100% snow games, in what way does that impact anyone who could just set it to random? It's a game. Some people wanted Mascot Mode. That's not real either. I've never understand why developers don't unlock these things. I hate when the game forces me to play a certain way for reasons that aren't entirely clear.Comment

Re: Lack of night games in dynasty
Separate from it being an artistic decision made with intention by game designers to not let you do this to increase the challenge and dynamism of the game, it takes time to build the ability for the user to manipulate an option.
For example, to add this hypothetical weather select option in dynasty, you'd be signing up for:
- additional UI development
- backend logic to support the feature
- increased QA testing effort for adding a new point of failure
- design effort to decide who gets to decide the weather in an online dynasty game
- backend implementation effort to enforce whoever gets to decide the weather in online dynasty
- if no one gets to decide the weather in online dynasty, implementation and QA effort to ensure that the option only shows up and works offline
All for a setting which 99% of players will ignore.
It's more effort than changing a 0 to a 1 to build "let me decide the weather" in the game, and it's effort, time, and money which is often much better spent by developers doing something else which adds value to more players.Comment

Select Weather
Select Time of Day
Change Uniforms of two user teams
Would it cost more time to turn these things off and do the testing to make sure they're off? All of these things are already there in the game.Comment

Would it save them any time to copy the UI from Play Now where we can:
