CFB25 is just Madden in CFB paint

I’m sorry. I’m a huge fan of the series. I played NCAA14 religiously until about 5 months ago. I was super excited for this game. I loved this game on launch week.

I play on Heisman. I don’t mind losing. I went 8-5 in my first season with Kent State and loved it. I’m currently 1-2 in year 2 and 6-2 in my online dynasty with Liberty.

I’m just gonna say it: CFB25 is not a good game. It’s Madden in college clothing. Yeah the honeymoon period was great. Now that she’s moved in and I’m no longer ****** her, I’ve noticed she’s got the same flaws as my ex. Suction-based animations, completely glitchy AI, impossible pass defense, robot QBs, and a cheese-fest gameplay mechanic.

It’s a better game than Madden has been but that’s such a low bar. The graphics look good but the revamped presentation is a joke. Really? All this time about how good each school would be. Well there’s about 2 animations per mascot, the halftime show never actually shows anything relevant, and I’ve heard the same commentary 1000 times already. It’s stale already and it’s August 1st.

Someone should go through all the deep dives and write up a list of all the lies EA told. The wildest one to me is them starting that 85 page dynasty blog (their fantasies about the game they wished they’d made) with “this game is for the core community” knowing full well what they were giving us. Yes but you have to appreciate the continued and varied use of hyperbole by the same culprits. Thumbs up to them. Their addiction to creating new threads daily as they repeat the exact same thing over again, is truly the cherry on top.

There are a lot of similarities regarding assets Madden utilizes but the differences are far more. They share the same DNA but I moved to the opinion Madden and CFB25 aren't brothers but kissing cousins. I would tend to say CFB25 is just Football in EA paint.

I guess the question is, what are you looking for? Wanting?

Everyone knew regardless that the same engine, and tool sets were being used for this game. Sure, they share animations, and have some of the same issues, but at least the team said they were working on stuff. That can't be said for Madden. Trust me, I waited all last years game for them to fix the cpu calling 70% pass plays. I've never even seen word from them about that issue.

As far as the impossible pass defense, maybe it's not the game, maybe it's you? I for one struggled my first 20 or so games. I completed probably around 35-50% of my passes per game. This game forces you to read and react to the coverages and adjust your line to avoid pressure. I played a game today where I threw for 390 yards on an even 60% completion percentage. Thats a huge improvement. Do I still struggle, heck ya I do. You MUST use your entire playbook cause the gsme will know what your tendency is on certain downs.

Defense is tough as well. Again, it's not the game...it's you. A lot of people struggle on D, myself included. But read in-between the lines in some threads, and you will notice replies from guys that figured it out. you just can't call the same defense over and over, etc etc. There is actual strategy to this game, and it isn't as pick up and play friendly as Madden has geared itself towards.

Guys create threads about come back AI, robot QB's etc. yes I have seen the "robot" qb, or what I like to call a QB that adjusts to my play calling and is exploiting it. What do I do? Look over replays and see where they are beating me, and ADJUST. I managed to get the cpu in between a 55-60% completion rate.

I'm not some d-head telling you to "get good", but to step back and see where your issues are. Instead of blaming the game, see what you may be doing wrong. It will suprise you as much as it did me.

              Impossible to play* pass defense.

I have very normal to good stats throwing the ball. Playing pass defense is impossible especially late in the halves. CPU goes 100% the entire last 2-4 minutes of every half.

Right cause a game that is so broken, playing with a particular player has been banned online because he moves 8-10 yards on a spin move is the sign of a great game. Or the fact that if you go to 3OT in online dynasty, it sims the outcome. Or the random snap through the QB for a loss of 40 yards. All great signs.

My fault, I read it wrong.

It's not impossible. I can expect an Ohio state to do this to a smaller school, or if you are just calling the wrong pass defense, or can't change out guys due to no huddle. I just can't grasp that it's 100% impossible to stop a team in the last 2-4 minutes.

For too many years people have sworn there is comeback code embedded into these games, and to me it's a load of hogwash. I play on AA with Armors slider set, and have not experienced comeback code of any kind. The only time I blow leads, are due to mistakes I made or hurtful penalties. Either it be a bad user or terrible play call that led to a huge gain/TD.

I disagree. To me, it feels like NCAA 14: remastered (which is great). My only gripes are the missing features and the overpowered rb from Ohio state.

Re: CFB25 is just Madden in CFB paint

Not being able to play defense is a you problem. There's so many things that go into it.

I played first half of a game against Texas the other day and I couldn't keep up with everything they were doing on offense. Was down 28-7 at half and was kicking off to start 3rd. So finished the game last night and I went deep passing and onside kicks and everything I could do to bet back in the game.

If it was Madden I would've destroyed them by selling out to stop the run and then using hurry up offense. This second half was a different story. They read I was selling to stop the run and was going for big plays on defense so they threw the ball to pick up yards. I got an inside kick and a strip sack recovery and on offense I was blitzing their deep defense all over the field and when they adjusted I started crushing them with huge underneath gains.

I have had one other game like that in the 40+ I've played. It was an awesome game to play and very enjoyable and I never once tied the game up.

Again, with Madden I probably would've won by 21 points with the way I was playing the second half.

Also, I haven't played any game not on Heisman with this game. I want the AI to make me stop them. If they have their QB complete 80% of his passes that's not a game problem that's a me problem.

Couldn't agree less. The game play and feel is similar to the old NCAA games. My expectations were pretty low going into this though.

There's enough places for this (including the "get it together" thread which is basically this same thing). There's no issue with having these gripes, but we have enough open threads for this or you can just use the general impressions area.
