NCAA Revamped was better
Am I the only person who likes NCAA Revamped better than College Football 25? I'm an older user (50's) and just like to pick up a game and start playing without having to watch several YouTube videos on how to do everything. I guess after 10 years of playing 14 and loving the updates people were able to do it's time to move on.Tags: None -
Re: NCAA Revamped was better
It has its cons and pros.
CFB25 does too. I've weighed them each and for all its warts , I was ready to move on to 25. Nothing wrong with sticking with revamped tho if it suits you.T-BONE.
Talking about things nobody cares. -
Re: NCAA Revamped was better
Never played revamped but played several of the older versions. While I think this game is really good, I do wish I didn't feel like I was at a major disadvantage for not being able to read defenses and know what/when to audible and all that crap. Think they made that part a little too sim for most the community although I know the real diehard football fans love it. As a mid-to-late 30's gamer, I don't have the time/desire to research how to do everything.Last edited by kariya05; 08-05-2024, 07:08 PM.Comment

NCAA Revamped was better
I don't think your unwillingness to learn how to play a new game is any reasonable or fair indicator as to the quality (or lack thereof) of said new game.
That said — College Football 25 (and most modern AAA simulation sports games in general) are sorely lacking in new user on-boarding features and in-game tutorials. Any which do exist in CFB25 are unfortunately buried inside of Ultimate Team. It's a very legitimate issue with the game.Last edited by Hooe; 08-05-2024, 09:28 PM.Comment

Re: NCAA Revamped was better
I enjoyed Revamped. It's incredible what that team did to that game. With that being said, it's the difference in player movement and animations that won't allow me to go back to playing the older games anymore. That's to be expected when comparing two games that are 11 years apart."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: NCAA Revamped was better
Revamped is much better for dynasty.
Gameplay wise, it's a wash. Revamped likely is more realistic, but the graphics and animations feel dated which does impact enjoyment a bit. 2025 has fun gameplay and amazing graphics, but it's arcadey and not very representative of football at that level.
I'd take 2025 if you're playing with your buddies over beers. Revamped if you're into dynasty.Comment

Re: NCAA Revamped was better
As much as I love revamped/14, there's no way I could go back to the gameplay of that game. For the last 3 or 4 years the gameplay just hasn't held up to what madden was doing, so I would play madden for gameplay but use revamped for my simulation dynasties or if I wanted to do coach mode.
Compared to 25, revamped has a little better dynasty but with a few updates 25 can easily pass that up.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights
NCAAF: Ohio State
NFL: Minnesota Vikings
MLB: Chicago CubsComment

It hurts twice as badly because those tutorials from the original NCAA franchise were some of my first intros to these intermediate concepts. I can still hear Kirk Herbstreit teaching me the triple option.Bills, Sabres, Illini, Cubs, basically any team that abuses its fanbase and I'm there.Comment

Re: NCAA Revamped was better
Nah. It’s not. I’m sorry you’re struggling with learning new mechanics, and seemingly don’t care to try. But the gameplay of this game, flaws and all, is dramatically ahead of what we had in NCAA14 and any belief otherwise just seems like rose colored glasses to me. I got to the point in 14, Revamped included, where I could win any game with any team. This game has been an absolute challenge for me, and I’m over 100 games in at this point. The gameplay is amazing. Dynasty needs adjustments, and some bugs need fixing. But if that stuff happens, I’m confident this will be the best college game ever.Comment

Re: NCAA Revamped was better
I think part of it is that you've played that game for ten years and any game would feel different after that. I don't really disagree with your thoughts. The only mode in CFB25 that I care to play at the moment is Play Now and the game is fine. Other modes just haven't met my expectations. Apparently that's so egregious to not just be thankful we have a game.
You're allowed to have an opinion and that's ok. I'm not going say "you're wrong" like others in this thread and make it seem like you're a worse person than anyone who does like the game. Whether or not people are enjoying something they paid for doesn't make anyone better or worse than anyone who feels the opposite. But I'm not sure why some are so defensive of either side of that argument.Comment

NCAA Revamped was better
While I disagree with OP, I get it. This game is for sure different, there is for sure more complexity and EA did a horrible job documenting how these new features work.
Edit: By horrible job I mean they didn’t document anything at all.

Re: NCAA Revamped was better
I love both games while 25 has issues, adjusting sliders does work.
I hope unlike Madden that CF25 does fix some of the bugs like visit not unlocking after getting to top 5 of a recruit, I have lost so many........ The game play is better than 14 until they fix some of the bugs with dynasty 14 is still better in that regardComment

Gameplay wise I'd mostly agree the new game is slightly better. It's very arcadey which isn't what I like, but I understand why they did it that way. But unless you're playing against friends or in to Ultimate Team, Revamped is just a better option for Dynasty.Comment

Re: NCAA Revamped was better
I think most people bought it for Dynasty and that's pretty bad compared to Revamped.

Honestly, I view Revamped as a straight up downgrade. Does dynasty currently have issues? Yes, as I pointed out. But again, top 25 polls in revamped were still flawed. Improved over the base game, but I still saw wonky things happen with 3 and 4 loss teams. Most of the time, I had to offload my file, and go into the editor to fix things. That's not too dissimilar to what I'm doing now by forcing wins here and there. I think there is just too much nostalgia, and anger towards this game not being the perfect sim game we wanted it to be.
Also I don't see how you think this game is arcadey, but 14 wasn't. Like I said, I could win every single game in 14. Precisely because the football on field wasn't all that realistic. This game, with some slider changes, feels significantly better on field. Needs improvement, sure. Things that can be patchable, even things that Madden has fixed that weren't implemented here which gives me faith they can fix it again. But 14 also needed a lot of improvements. Improvements it never got. I played 14 for over a decade just like everyone else here. I played Revamped for like 4 years. I won't ever go back. Absolutely no reason to in my eyes. But you do you. I just think objectively, you're wrong. Entitled to your opinion though.Comment

Re: NCAA Revamped was better
Yeah I said dynasty needs adjusting. But, we're really acting like Dynasty was super deep and complex in NCAA 14? It was incredibly easy and shallow. You could turn a 1 star into a powerhouse in 2 seasons. I dunno what revamped you guys were playing, but the NCAA 14 framework was not conducive to a deep or meaningful recruiting system. EA themselves admitted it was a downgrade from previous years recruiting systems. Which is why in this game, they adopted some of the older style elements, with different spins on them.

Not bashing the gameplay of 25, but it is very arcade like. There is no defense and once you get down the few plays that work, you can score on every possession with ease. 14 has its issues too, especially after years of people finding out the best ways to exploit the AI. I still think it's a really fun game to play with a group of friends and would have loved this in college. But from a simulation aspect, it's just Madden with even less defense.
For me, it comes down to dynasty mode. And there are just too many issues with 25 to make it playable in its current state.Comment
