Questions for someone out of the game for a decade….

In the last decade has the:

Pocket game improved? Meaning edge rushers actually get down field?

Do teams that would normally employ a dual or even triple running back system use it correctly? On the flip side do workhorse running backs also get used correctly? Is this reflected in the stats system for simmed games?

Like you the last Madden I tried was 16 and the last Madden I actually liked and invested in was Madden 12. I bought the game last year - still awful.

They still don’t use RB committees lol it’s comical. & not only do they not use committees; the RB1/RB2 split carries strategy last worked I think in like Madden 08. They don’t even have it as an option anymore! & the CPU doesn’t even run the ball. Literally throw it every down. Game was a mess at release last year with a draft class issue that made franchise unplayable for a month and 32 Team Control set up is still exhausting. The sim stats were the game ender for me, once I realized it was impossible to get realistic stats in the sim engine I quit playing it.

The presentation was so boring I thought I was doing something wrong with the lack of, it reminded me of the first madden for PS3 I think it was. Just a dead feeling on the field.

They sold it like it was a make or break year and they improved it so much that I fell into the trap. It was so disappointing I refused to fall into the EA NCAA trap - I knew that game would be a disaster code wise. Judging by the issues in dynasty mode galore, a guy still may be better off buying Madden.

If it's been a decade, you might remember me. I became a designer after being selected for Community Day from Madden Mania.

It has improved. It's improved in more ways than I can convey. But that doesn't make it good.

The things that really make football unique are lost on most of the designers.

Is the pocket improved? I'll say the pass rush is better.

It's like, they constantly half-*** good ideas. They made the pocket pretty good for a minute, and backed off, and this keeps happening. It's still Madden, with all its faults. Ten years later, in an Era where the fan has access to Brett Kollman and coach's tape, it hasn't come along nearly enough.

        But it's better.

I'll give you two pieces of advice if you're into Franchise: get it this year, and get it on PC. I have a feeling this will be the last one worth bothering with for a minute, and modders might make the real difference.

There are two types of people on OS: Those who disagree with me, and those who agree.

The first kind is wrong. The second is superfluous.

Trying to read between the lines here… do you think Josh Looman’s return is in tandem with a ground-up multi-year rebuild of the mode? Or am I getting to far ahead. It just makes sense given his return + don’t expect anything juicy next year (which I think you’re insinuating)

If you Google my name and madden, you'll be able to guess closer.

It was a wild few days here as well.

You weren't wrong. It wasn't until Madden 22 that we got meaningful updates to franchise and that was after major backlash from the community.

Thanks for the reply Adam. I will probably skip again or at least wait till a steam sale.

I’m more of a text based sim guy now anyway. Getting so old. [emoji23]
