Best school to start a dynasty with is…
UCLA and here’s why. UCLA is the only school with A+ school rating on the 2 school classifications that cannot be changed. Academic Prestige and Campus Lifestyle. Key to keeping a 5* rating as a school is an average of all the school attributes. Certainly helps to have 2, A+ ratings in categories that will not decrease.

UCLA has always struck me as a sleeping giant. Great school, great weather, amazing stadium, great night life, cool uniforms, in an area with a ton of talent. Just feels like for decades now they haven't been able to find the right coach.
The other schools that I think fall in the sleeping giant category: Pitt, Virginia, North Carolina, Miami, and Texas A&M. They each have some drawbacks but all of them feel like they should be better than they've been in the past 20 years.
Maryland and Rutgers are two other schools that stand out to me as underachieving based on their geography.
San Diego State has had some success but I think they could be a powerhouse if built properly. And they'll probably be in the reloaded PAC-12.
For small schools, I like Georgia State, Texas State, UTSA, Old Dominion, Florida Atlantic, and Florida International. Those are all pretty much based on geography.Comment

The back of the jerseys stripes being messed up bothers me too much for them. The classic without the name plate you can see the full stripes. LSU has the same problem in game. The jerseys in real life maintain full stripes.

There are 133 good teams to choose to use for dynasty. Yes, 133 is not a typo. I don't include that team to the north.
Never consider UCLA but doesn't strike me as a team to use.
This is a very subjective question as it depends on what you want out of a dynasty. I am in year 1 with Rice and having a great time. Cool stadium, cool uniforms, solid G5 conference, and potential to recruit in the Texas pipelines.Funkycorm

Re: Best school to start a dynasty with is…
I don’t know if I’ll have a dynasty that starts in Michigan this time around as playing as the defending national champs is nowhere near as satisfying as trying to bring them back to the glory days. If we start at the top, where is there to go but down?Favorite Teams:
College #1: Michigan Wolverines
College #2: Michigan State Spartans (my alma mater)
College #3: North Carolina Tar Heels
NHL: Detroit Redwings

Lol. It’s funny you mention them. While I always have a dynasty where I start as a small school and work my up up to hopefully get my dream job with the boyz in blue, I have always had another dynasty starting at Michigan and trying to rebuild them into something great.

New Mexico Lobos is it for me if you want a challenge. They are one of the bottom 10-20 teams in the game, are not located in a recruiting hot bed per say (but are close to Texas and California)and play in a fairly tough smaller conference (Mountain West). They also have pretty cool unis although they don't have a ton of variation to choose from. Their field is alright and decent sized for their level of competition.
But the thing that makes this team fun is their roster. They have a freshman QB with 85 speed and his other athletic attributes are great as well. He's pretty much a RB playing QB and his throwing ability isn't too bad either especially for a freshman.
They have two good rbs, one is more of a steady move the chains guy and the other is pretty quick and and shifty. And your top wr is a senior with 95 speed (only 75 overall tho).
The drawback here of course is the defense sucks and some of your best players will be moving on after year 1 because they are seniors. But you have the young QB to build around and a few young players on defense who are intriguing, especially at safety.
If you want to run an option based offense (I'm using spread option) with the ability to still go down field, I'd highly recommend New Mexico. They are a blast to play with if you are cool with the challenge.Comment

I want to play as the Buckeyes but want to earn that position. I don't like starting at the top of the team rankings because you can only go down as you said.Funkycorm

Re: Best school to start a dynasty with is…
Depends on what you're looking for, but ULM and UMass are the only schools who both:
- were in NCAA 14, and
- have never won anything at the FBS level (not even a single bowl game!)
ULM is interesting because of their location, with proximity to major talent. As the Sun Belt has become a more competitive G5 conference, ULM has remained a basement dweller. Also, their QB is named General Booty.
UMass will be headed to the MAC next year, but you can have fun with an independent schedule before making that switch or keep them independent. They have a former 4* Clemson commit as QB with dual-threat abilities like Option King (though he is a senior). Perhaps in five years with your leadership they could be brought into the fold of the ACC post-raiding by SEC/B1G?
These are the two worst programs in the FBS. Why not build an incredible legacy starting with them?Comment

Do they play in the actual 17,000 seat McGuirk Alumni Stadium in the game as well? If so, that's why we need an AD Mode in Dynasty to help build a better size stadium when (if) you become competitive enough to do so.
Would be a cool feature.
