AZYankees Really Old Guy Varsity Sliders

Okay, so we have WWF's old man sliders for the 50+ crowd, so here are mine for the 50-60+ crowd, but we are not checking ID's, so if you are younger you can use them too

I did these back in the day and was really excited to get to work on something after finally getting NCAA back. I coached HS Football from 1987-2022, so my main focus was getting a set of sliders that looks natural from that perspective, coverage drops, line play, pass rush, etc.

I was worried that the new patch would wreck these but outside of needing to turn down interceptions, everything held up and the improvement in pursuit angles and LBer play helped a ton. So without further adieu, here we go.

House rule - I do not control any players on defense, I scheme by down and distance and game situation. I allow myself to audible when the CPU goes into hurry up, but outside of that the only adjustments I allow myself to make are:
    1-Coverage shells
    2-Press/play soft
    3-Shift the line

I do not guess plays, except in the last 2 minutes of a half/game, where I will guess pass if the situation warrants it for a bit more realism. I will also adjust zone depths in the playbook menu at halftime if the CPU is exploiting certain areas of the field, such as in between the flats and outside deep thirds. Also use the sticks adjustment to drop zone depths in 3rd down passing situations, makes the back end stronger.

Finally, make sure you adjust the adaptive AI under your coach profile to aggressive.

Final Set post patch update 11/25/24 - I have played a few full seasons now and adding these final post patch tweaks, tones down Human run game, lower tackling for both unlocks some cool animations and bump to CPU pass pro getting sacks more in line with RL. Note: Optional tweaks in green to tailor your experience, they can all be used, or some depending on how the game is playing for you.

Dropped Interception to 30 from 35, this seemed to be the one thing the patch really altered, everything else playing well. Will restart my 'real' dynasty and post results.

Really awesome sliders, thanks for these. I played the first half on play now as Ohio State, in the horseshoe, in the snow, vs Michigan. Both teams struggled to run, as you'd expect with 2 great d lines. I need to work on my coverage game a bit, but I was up 21-14 at the half. Overall, I liked the defensive feel to these. Going to try on dynasty, to see the difference when I play Akron, to when I play Michigan State.

Also, you said you use adaptive passing. Is that Revamped?

              Game 1 - BYU 45 FCS MW 10
As expected, though offensively it was sloppy with my reads, giving up 3 interceptions, 1 on a terrible read and 1 when I pushed the wrong button. L.J Martin had 111 years rushing.

                Game 2 - BYU 35 SMU 31
This was a back and forth battle, fun game to play and there was a total of 21 points scored in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter. I thought I would need to hit a long field goal to tie, but a coverage bust left my halfback open down the seam for the game winner with 5 seconds left. Fun game and the key we cutting turnovers down and also managing to avoid being sacked through scrambles, or getting an errant pass away last second. .

                  Game 3 - BYU 36 Wyoming 35
Another shootout that Wyoming (who also came in 2-0) led for most of the second half due to strong QB play and for the second consecutive I was able to win on the last possession with time winding down. I forced 5 Wyoming punts, but also gave them two turnovers, one of which was a pick six, I also had a punt return TD. #10 K-State is next and will easily be the biggest challenge to date.
                  First downs

                  Rushing
BYU: 156 YPC 4.9 (This was largely due to Gerry Bohannon scrambles, L.J Martin ran for 80+, averaging 4.3
Wyoming: 22 YPC 1.4 (Sacks hurt their YPC, they just didn’t run much)

                  Passing
BYU: 20-40-310 yards 1 TD 2 Int (Mediocre performance throwing outside a couple of big plays.)

Re: AZYankees Really Old Guy Varsity Sliders

Update to OP - These are all based on things that continue to be a little out of whack after the patch, most notably speed parity, as there were a few too many big plays. Also nerfed interceptions, reaction and coverage to tighten things up on the back end of the defense.

                    Speed Parity - 5 to 25
                    Pass Reaction - 55 to 56
                    Interceptions - 30 to 20
                    Pass Coverage - 50 to 56

Happy with the running games that are dependent on matchups in the trenches and give good variety, want to get the coverage a bit tighter and take away some of the bubbles in the back 7.

My last two games were a 24-17 win over K-State, defensive battle managed 350 yards against them and gave up 307 threw 3 picks and only managed 11 first downs. Then a 44-42 overtime shootout win against Baylor both teams combining for 926 yards of total offense (me 430, Baylor 494) Both QBs threw 2 picks and this has been my biggest concern, balancing picks vs passes defensed a bit better.

                      Game 7 - BYU 24 Oklahoma State 27
The Cinderella season comes to an end and it was bound to happen with as many close games as we have been in, but BYU had entered the top 25 (21) for the first time before this game, but couldn’t stop Ollie Gordon who went for 138 yards on 27 carries and really opened up their passing game as well. They also held me to the lowest total yardage all season on top of that.

                          Game 9 - BYU 31 Utah 10
Coming off two losses and playing our rivalry game on the road against the number 3 ranked team in the country, BYU jumps out to a 17-0 lead, but Utah closes it to 17-10 early in the 3rd. I put together two long drives in the 3rd to salt the game away as neither team can score in the 4th. Running game was as good as it has been all year against a tough Utah defense and BYU’s defense keeps Cam Rising in check with an interception in the end zone, that was the turning point.
                          First downs
                          BYU: 20
                          Utah: 17

                          Total Yards
                          BYU: 423
                          Utah: 387

                          Rushing
                          BYU: 161 YPC 5.0 (L.J Martin 99 yards on 23 carries)
                          Utah: 76 YPC 3.0

                          Passing
                          BYU: 14-23-262 yards 2 TD 1 Int
                          Utah: 19-31-311 yards 1 TD 1 Int

                          Sacks
                          BYU: 1
Utah: 0 (First game with no sacks against, got the ball out quick and went RPO heavy)

                          Penalties
                          BYU: 3-22
                          Utah: 0

One big issue with the game, rankings are still far from realistic. 7-2 with a convincing win over the #3 team in the country, they fall to 9, fair, but BYU is ranked 25 by the media and unranked in the coaches poll.

Tried these out. Honestly calling them old guy sliders scared me away initially lol. Had a great first game Colorado st 80 ovr me vs e. Michigan 74 ovr. Their rating was misleading as the skill players were way lower rated than myself. 31- 21 me. They got a cheap td last minute. My only change was using armor & swords special teams sliders. After the game I swapped in cane's auto subs so I get player rotation. If it affects the gameplay too much like sim states, I'll change it back as I loved everything about that first game.

                              Hello!

First time back to any football game in a very long time. Gave up on all sports games as I got older but I always loved college football games. My question is, are these good for a new player like me to start off with. I’m nervous to start a dynasty haha
