    Editing Players Bug

In an online league, I went to edit players equipment & it seemed that some of the players numbers had changed during that process. My league community said it was a bug that happens as you edit them.

Have any of you guys run into this problem?
Do you know if it was patched on Friday?

    Re: Editing Players Bug

It's been a bug report on EA forums with a lot of people saying it happened to them. Not sure if the patch addressed it, but I don't remember seeing anything about it in the patch threads.

I’ve noticed it happens when you edit anyone with a duplicate number.

I went to edit a 5 star recruit’s position (moving him from RT to LT) and it changed his archetype from agile to pass protector, and it made his overall drop from 80 to 71. When I move him back it doesn’t revert. This was in an online league post update….happened last night. Sucks

I realized this was definitely the issue

Yep, I've had that happen before. I wonder if it's moving the archetype to your scheme? Ex: in your scheme it has LT "pass protector"

It is a bug, but its also been my work around to switch numbers if I believe someone on the offense or defensive side of the ball is wearing a number they don't deserve or shouldn't be wearing (QBs wearing numbers in the 20s). I avoid editing irl players if there are two that share a number, but if its a generated recruit or fake player? Fair game

If you change a player's position outside of the offseason position changes, it will change the player's archetype to match your coach scheme. If you move a big physical WR to TE normally, they would become the vertical threat archetype, but if you do it during the season and your scheme calls for a blocking TE, your receiver's archetype will change to blocking TE and I've seen the ratings go as low as 21 OVR. Most of the time, they'll be in the 30's.

It would be interesting to test out how the low OVR translates to actual gameplay, XP, and player leveling (especially with coaching trees that offer passive XP), and then switching them back to their original position to see if they keep any gains.

As far as player number changes go, I have 3 QB's whose numbers are 21, 23, and 26. It's driving me crazy. My HB's are all single digits. If I edit a DB who wears a duplicate number, the QB just moves to another number in the 20's. I can understand the reasons for not being able to edit the numbers, but they should at least let us assign a number range for certain positions.

I would say your best bet for that even tho its tedious, if someone on defense or your kicker or punter is wearing a single digit edit them to change the HBs number and then from there if you go to change a QB number if a single digit or number in the teens is available they will probably get it then

Unfortunately, only one of the QB's has a duplicate number and none of the HB's do. I'm about to over-recruit DB's to try and fix this nonsense (or just replace the QB's). Some of it has to do with ATH recruits. They always seem to get assigned weird numbers.

Yeah I've had that happen before too, I would say try to recruit some LBs and DBs and hope they get a duplicate number. In my head I just come up with a explanation like a player being stuck with a number as a freshman but as he gets a more prominent role then he can get a better number

I’m thinking you are right. The bigger problem is that it sounds like if I change my coaching scheme now it might mess up my whole roster’s ratings???
