What’s up with the lighting in the game?

So progressive lighting isn’t in the game but I am noticing the lighting change somewhat during day games. Like cloudy to clear. Has anyone else noticed this?

It’s a bummer that progressive isn’t in the game but it wouldn’t be so bad if they’d fix it and have the lighting set to where most of the game will take place. All 6-730 and later start times, just make them night games, ESPECIALLY after October when it’s dark at 6pm anyway. I’m in year 4 of a RTG and I’ve play 2 night games. I’ve had countless 6 and 730pm games that are played in all daylight. That’s extremely cheesy for a PS5 game.

The best lighting I've seen in this game is at Mizzou at 3:30. It looks stunning IMO. Progressive lighting would be of great benefit at place like Jordan Hare Stadium where at the start of a 3:30 game there is a shadow on the field that partially covers the end zone and the field all the way up to about the 15-20 yard line. Without progressive lighting that shadow is there the entire game. The lighting at some stadiums look better than others, at different game times. i personally think 6pm kickoff's have looked the worse. I play the majority of my Play Now games at 3:30.

There is no movement of clouds or sun in this game. There will never be “cloudy to clear”. If you’re noticing a difference, it’s likely because the field flips and you’re going a different direction and into or away from the sun. The camera will be hotter or cooler looking based off of that, but it has nothing to do with the lighting progressing or cloud coverage moving in the game.

Just a massive, massive miss by EA in regard to the lighting. To have these amazing lighting environments and then lock them to static is so puzzling. Having a game start and then finish at dusk is jarring and immersion breaking. Really kills the vibe of the mid to late afternoon game starts imo. It makes even less sense that without any real time lighting changes, why in the world do they not use the other timed lighting environments at quarter ends?? 3 pm kickoff should have 6 pm lighting by 3rd qtr and 8 pm lighting start of 4th qtr. these lighting conditions exist in the game already, why not load them in as the game goes on? Its like an itch you can’t scratch playing through a simulated sunset that lasts 3 and a half hours.

I really hope that this was just the foundation EA was setting and next year and beyond will have progressive lighting.

Just played a 7pm Thursday night game at Missouri in November. Daylight the whole time. Just sad that with PS5 software EA can’t do better than this.

How is it that Madden 25 looks so much better than CFB25? Is it the lighting? Is Madden native 4K or something? Just seeing some of the new Madden footage, it's startling how much better that game looks than CFB.

I'm fine with CFB's graphics, I don't think that's the biggest issue with the game by a longshot. Just surprising to see how much better Madden looks on the field.

Yeah it’s crazy how much better madden looks. I moved away from CFB 25 until the new patch but madden opening day feels much better than CFB.

I stumbled across something the other night just by chance that has made the game look so much better and clearer to me. It's not a fix or it doesn't change the resolution or any of that.

But, I have an LG C2, and it is said that OLED's, specifically LG's C2 and back are better viewed in a dark room. We'll, the other night, I was laying down in my man cave watching a CPU v CPU game. The room was dark, and honestly I was feeling a nap coming on. So, in Game Optimizer Mode, there is something called Dark Room Mode, where you can turn the brightness down. There are two levels, Level 1 and Level 2. I put it on Level 2 and ended up dropping off to sleep. When I woke up I restarted the game I fell asleep on I said to myself, man the visuals look so clean.

So, then I watched another game at a different game time and the visuals were so clean, and I have been playing/watching the games with Dark Mode on Level 2 and Black Stabilizer at 11 and I'm gonna continue doing that.

Same. CFB looks fine to me, it's nothing to write home about but it's fine. The difference between it and Madden graphically is stark. Madden looks a ton better graphically imo.

Lack of progressive lighting in this game, while not a deal breaker is disappointing.

Yeah I’ve migrated over to Madden as well since I finished my RTG. Likely done with CFB25 unless they at least give us the ability to fully edit fake players. At the very least let us change numbers. I won’t touch dynasty until numbers are editable. EA forgot what made this game so fun.

Still on the issue of this topic it blows my mind that EA cannot comprehend that it’s dark at 7pm come October lol. How does this type of stuff make it in a game that was made over years. The yearly cycle excuse is out the window.

It's a picture mode feature on LG OLED TV's. When you turn on your console, the TV automatically switches to Game Optimizer Mode.
