For the life of me I can’t find the coverage shells options. Is it in the play call window. Or is it on the field. Any help would be great. Thanks

Shells are there when you are calling your play as well, look at the bottom and it should say to move your right stick left/right to go through them when inside a defensive formation.

It's the exact same issue in past Maddens, certain sliders (pass reaction and coverage) are not responsive enough, or they just don't flat out work.

Part of the problem is that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for those to be 2 separate sliders.

If you squint, you can see what they were trying to accomplish, but those concepts are so closely linked that it's not clear what a user should be tweaking to get the results they want, and I'd bet a lot that the dev team isn't 100% clear what each slider should do either...to the point where they just undertune both of them (that is, make them largely unresponsive) to make sure they don't break something with the other slider, or that they don't interact to have really wild unintended outcomes.

Condense it to one "coverage ability" slider, make sure it's actually responsive, THEN maybe consider whether you need to split those 2 things back out.

I'm betting the answer at that point would be "no".

Thanks. I’ve seen videos where it’s there for some reason that doesn’t pop up in my play call screen. Is it only certain formations or certain tabs (I typically use coach suggestions).

If you use coach suggestions, then you won't see them (at least I never have), you have to call your own plays then the shell option will show up.

Yeah you have to actually be within a formation to then see the RS prompting you about shells in there. And certain formations won't have certain disguises in them (Cover 4 shell etc. won't be in every formation as it still depends on the base look of the specific form to a certain extent).

I'm playing as Dallas, who should have a good D, but giving up 80%+ completion and a ton of points. It's default All-Madden, but in 24 I was able to play good D. I get a fair number of sacks, and interceptions, but just too high a completion percentage. Not all short passes either.

I will agree that there are some serious defensive issues with this game. I may have a long (personal man hours over 40-50) fix

Rosters need a major overhaul from ratings scale to traits to the abilities that are defaulted to superstars/X factors.

Albeit through heisman through 4 games I’ve shredded the cpu defensively I’m working on a collective mass overhaul for the game. Here’s some photos I’ll post more below as well

When I play with the browns I’ve averaged 5 ints a game. (2 game sample)The cpu has mixed deep and short passes. Its not all dink and dunk. Other games using the same set

I held the panthers scoreless for 38 mins.

Held the 49ers TD’less for 37 mins.

I play all 3 levels of the defense. I disguise my shell about 85% of my snaps and mix it all up. From cover 0,1,2 man to zone blitzes, man blitzes, heavy zones with a “show blitz and press “

Darnold threw 6 picks wish they would of benched him he accounted for 8 turnovers , looking back at this he didn’t miss on any throws but I’ve made changes to my sliders since this was the first M25 game, cards was 2nd with tweaks from my CFB online dynasty sliders,
Titans (me) vs panthers was 3rd game
ATL (me) vs sf was last game 4th.

Same. It's because they are dinking and dunking the whole time. They will go 3 for 3 on a drive but only for 9 yards.

I honestly feel like I am playing a different game than some of the people in the impressions thread.

This years game is really bad in a lot of key areas. That's not me trying to trash Madden for trashing sake, I genuinely want them to fix it because the game is gorgeous and could be amazing.


Coverage is so bad. I've been playing Madden for over 30 years so I know what I'm doing it's just flat out broken. I have CPU QB accuracy at zero and user coverage and reaction at 100 and the CPU still completes over 80%.
Not only can they not defend the pass the pursuit angles are atrocious. Also my defenders don't react to QB scrambles till the QB is past the line of scrimmage. I've watched numerous times where the closest defender just stands there, reacts way too late and even sometimes just completely takes off in the wrong direction. To compound that the game never switches you to the closest guy. Never. I'm not kidding.

Lastly. The offensive line is broken. That's not hyperbole. My last game I watched the replay after every pass play. On every single play there was shenanigans. Every single one somebody messed up a block. There was numerous plays that a 3 man rush beat max protect and it wasn't just 1 of the 3, all 3 would get through. I counted every single play. I didn't get through the word "three mississi...... " before I got hit on every single play.

Ive known somethings not right since my first game but I've really noticed it in my game 3 of franchise so I don't know if it's a problem with a progressing franchise or something like just Madden randomness and maybe that's why people aren't seeing it but honestly the last game I played wasn't just not fun it was a game of completely broken mechanics.

Im not a perennial Madden *****. I've actually quite liked the last few. I really want to like this one but I genuinely think this game is really broken right now and the fact that I'm seeing a lot of people not seeing it has me worried.

You may be on to something there with the thought of as the franchise goes on it gets bugged as ever. My first 2 games I played ? Were downright FUN I was excited to play a 3rd the next day after work…then it was all downhill

Didn't we face something like this in the early days of 24? By the end, that was playing fairly well. High completion percentages due to short passes, but not outrageous. High pass/run ration, but that's another story.


I updated some sliders to increase user pass defense and lower CPU accuracy. Still a high percentage of completions. Against the 49ers yesterday, Brock Purdy set a new record for completions in a game, at 48. Partly due to only running 8 times (11 minute quarters) The game was close until I got a second interception mid-way through the 4th quarter.

1. Speed Parity - If you aren't playing with it high enough, pass coverage is really poor. I have a 5 to 6 game sample with a slider set I developed (over the course of maybe 15 games so far, haven't tweaked in the last 5ish) on All Madden with 100 speed parity and the game has been much better. I think I'm gonna type those up in the Slider thread this weekend because I have been having a ton of fun against the CPU this past week. CPU QB's accuracy and completion % has been somewhere between 59-72 % with the occasional 76-78 %.

2. Defenders reacting to QB's scrambling is strictly on the user as the game won't pull them out of their pass coverage automatically unless the QB crosses the LoS. You have to click R3 for the nearest defender to run after the QB if they have not passed the line of scrimmage yet. Side Note: I'll utilize this sometimes as well for a late blitzer if all routes have gone deep and I have a LB in zone underneath doing nothing. Might as well send him on a late blitz.

3. I haven't had the pass blocking issues you've described. I have with the run game sometimes because I have my user run blocking to 0 though. However, average NFL QB dropback has about 2.5 seconds in the pocket to get a pass off before the pocket collapses, so your Mississippi count sounds about right on.
