Why can’t we adjust game speed like we could on the Xbox 360 and PS3?

Remember on the previous generation of madden, you could go in to the gameplay settings and you could change the game speed? When I played Madden 10, I always played on very slow. It helped me learn the game better because I could react accurately with a slower speed. I understand it should be a default speed online but why on earth was this removed for our offline stuff?

I believe one of the devs stated that it was hard to accommodate three different speeds when it comes to tuning the game. Not to mention that there's also three days different gameplay styles.

I miss this too. Just another one of the many ways that online play and the other modes have made the game worse for those of us who only do single player, offline franchise mode.

I think this is one of the worst ideas they implemented.

Can't just add layer over layer over layer.

How does game speed interact with ratings? PS3 being the same period they expanded player ratings..

How does it effect the sliders?

And now we get never ending 'tuning' updates.

            terrible execution, IMO.

It would be if they hadn't overhauled locomotion. It really isn't an easy thing to do.

You might have noticed when they had the game speed setting, there were actual differences in how the game felt. This is because the game runs on frames, but the frame rate doesn't change to accommodate the game speed (unless you force it too, which basically is like making a new game for every frame rate... I'm talking sim frames here, not your refresh rate.)

I loved being able to adjust game speed, but I was always surprised it actually worked well. When they went to a more complicated locomotion model, it wasn't practical.

I miss this as well...but even more so in the college game which is way too fast for my tastes. Sometimes I feel more like an observer than an active participant...it just all happens too quickly. Would love to have even one slightly slower setting.

I agree I miss that feature setting but I will say when you play both ncaa and Madden, there is a big difference in game speed. Ncaa is faster while Madden is a bit slower, so in terms of gameplay I will say Madden is better because it feels slower

I guess that makes sense not to mention it’s on their battlefield engine, which I think was a big mistake. I kind of wish they would’ve kept going on the ignite engine. I think overtime could’ve been pretty awesome and I believe it would be less buggy also.

Because it messes with the physics and animations

Sorry so late on this, I'm not on here that often.

Ignite wasn't an engine. It was the same suite of tools they were using before that, marketing just got the wild idea to call them an engine.

Ignite was a catch-all label for "any software used to make Madden gameplay." It was never an engine. Just as Franchise Mode didn't really have a proper engine before FranTK, it was just a bunch of code hacked together.

So frostbite isn’t a different engine from what they called ignite? Whether it was categorized as a different engine, the last engine to use ignite was Madden 25. The year after that they used Frostbite engine with claims of real time physics. For better or worse., the transition to frostbite was vastly different . That was my main point.
