MyNBA - Bonus Staff

I'm very confused by this new system and hope it doesn't work how I think it does. Can someone clarify?


Is it accurate that I can't choose who the bonus staff is? I have 4 bonus coaching staff people on the Nets and see that there are real staffers in these roles. However I can't choose to replace any of them? Is that accurate? So the bonus staff just follow the head coach from team to team?

I have a similar problem.

On the Staff Signing screen, the game suggests I hire an assistant coach.

There's no slot for an assistant coach anymore!

Did I miss something? I hope I missed something.

I'd also like to know, what kind of silly decision was it to even do this...... all the real assistant coaches was part of why it was a good mode if you can't hire them it's going to make me strongly consider buying

Nope that's 2k for you. "Streamlined" MyStaff this year by removing parts of the staff that actually matters smh

If that's the case that's horrible implementation. I don't want my head coach hiring "Lucas Lucas" to the staff. I'm not understanding how taking away control is a feature?

MyStaff never had a real impact on the gameplay or team structure anyway. This is a feature that looks ok at face value but there is no substance behind it.

I'd also like to know, what kind of silly decision was it to even do this...... all the real assistant coaches was part of why it was a good mode if you can't hire them it's going to make me strongly consider buying

Honestly, they should've kept the staff the same as on old-gen... except actually make the staff have some sort of meaningful effect (and be transparent with consumers about what those effects are). I like that 2K dialed back the staff size; it was silly how they expanded it for MySTAFF. But it's goofy to me that Assistant Coach, such a fundamental position that it pre-dates MySTAFF, was a position they took out. We don't need Shot Doctor or Big Man Whisperer or whatever, but give us a couple Assistant Coaches at least.

Doesn't need substance I'm the GM I want to hire the staff lol who are they streamlining it for, if that's the case just make it so you don't have to hire people if you don't want to taking features away is silly.

- horrible mindset to explain unofficially why a feature is removed from the game. Probably to justify lowered costs on paying even these assistant coaches what they deserve.

We can discuss all day about these baffling "design" decisions but it's really difficult to understand them unless the lead devs openly and honestly decide to share their thoughts with us.

Which they never do I used to hold 2k in the highest regard compared to Madden Dev team, 2k was always seemed ahead but the last 4 to 5 years have been anything but. The Devs won't even answer simple questions all they care about is you watching their personal streams.

A couple of them are still interacting a bit more openly with us but certainly it seems they're on tight NDAs now which unfortunately happens with big companies. Still I would expect a big corporate videogaming company like 2K to be more proactive with the customers.

I feel your pain but if you test out the feature, you will realize that it has little to no impact on anything. Progression/Regression in 2k has always had issues. In game injuries barely happen. A great head trainer doesn't keep your players anymore or less healthy. A great assistant coach isn't adding a wrinkle to your scheme or helping develop players better. It's all cosmetic and even then it's not even executed well.

People keep asking for all these features but 2k need to make the features they have WORK and have IMPACT.

The devs aren't Ronnie2k and the 2k marketing team. Why does a Dev care about watching a bunch of famous content creators? There are devs like DaCzar whom have been active in the online community for years. If you've been playing 2k for more than 10 years now you'd know this.

At the same time people aren't going to interact with you online if they are going to be disrespected on a regular basis over a 70.00 game. If anything be mad at the decision makers at the executive level and how they do business not the individual that is doing their job.
