PC release in next 5 years?

Thoughts on a PC release in the next 5 years?

Obviously with NCAA Revamped, NCAA 14 is still alive.

I could not imagine an EA CFB PC release if modders got their hands on it.

Imagine AI logic being overhauled for on the field, recruiting, etc.

Not to mention all the uniform options.

The elephant in the room (roll tide) is rosters.

I think this is the reason it wont come to PC is roster editing.

Hopefully a compromise can be reached and a PC release can happen.

Our only other option is a next gen console emulator which is obviously years away if at all.

Re: PC release in next 5 years?

I honestly don't think the modding community is anything EA cares too much about. I don't believe it is why we didn't get it on PC this year and I don't believe it would be the reason we may never see the series on PC.

I think the primary reason that we may not see this game reach PC is because the game has a smaller community as is and it wouldn't be fiscally worth it to put resources towards a PC version when I doubt even 10% of the community would be on that platform.

And, even if my assumption is wrong and the # of players on PC is bigger than 10%, how many would be new purchasers and not people that already are console owners? How many actual new units would EA move each year when putting the game on PC? Would it be enough to make it worth making a PC version? I hope so, but I don't expect so.

Was NCAAf14 on PC? If it was, my vote is yes. If it wasnt, my vote is no.

I don't believe the EA NCAA FB games have ever been on PC. NCAA 14 was not at least.

Considering the rise of PC gaming, along with the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, etc. I believe it will make it to PC eventually. Never say never. People never thought EA sports games would ever be on Steam either, but alas they are now.

NCAA '98 and '99 were the only two EVER to be on PC.

modding available or not, if this was on PC next year, it would be my first choice.

I wouldn't hold you breath. I think there's a better chance we don't get the game for 5 more years than there is a chance we get it on PC.

I can see not getting a PC CFB but I can't see not getting it at all in five years.

Re: PC release in next 5 years?

I actually wonder about the future of the College Football series in general, not just its possible appearance on PC. I wonder how much of Madden's sales CFB has cannibalized, and how that trend will look going forward. In year 1 of course it will be additive overall to EA's unit sales, but as CFB becomes an annual release alongside Madden, I wonder if it will continue to be worth it to EA to produce 2 games when most people will only buy 1 per year at most (and most fewer than that).

Presumably, EA has detailed metrics and projections on this kind of thing, but I hope some bean-counter doesn't produce a model that says that making CFB is no longer additive (taking into account development costs) for EA because it just shifts some otherwise would-be Madden buyers to CFB, without adding enough additional 'new' otherwise-non-Madden buyers.

People have to realize, you have a lot of people who are ONLY fans of College Football and ONLY fans of NFL. So it wouldn't really hurt each other. Like in the past I knew plenty of people who only bought NCAA football and basketball. They never touched the pro version of it because they never watched the pro version on TV and I knew people who were the opposite.

Just like you have those who only played the Battlefield series and those who only played COD series. Those who only played FIFA and those who only played PES. Sure there is some overlap but not as much as people think it is. Some people like the aspect of recruiting over dealing with contracts and vice versa.

I'm one of those people. I'm only interested in college basketball and would (have) buy a college basketball game, but I have no interest in the NBA and haven't bought an NBA game in over a decade.

I am a much bigger college football fan than NFL, but at least once in a while, I would pick up a Madden game just to have a football game. But with the advent of CFB back in game form, I don't see myself ever buying another Madden.

I can see people alternating Madden/CFB every year. I understand that there is some degree of non-overlap, but even just judging by these forums, the interest seems split between CFB and Madden, but the total doesn't seem to be completely additive (without having any numbers to back that up, just judging based on eyeballing the # of users in each forum).

I’m in that camp as well. I haven’t watched an NFL game in 23 years nor an NBA game in 35+ years, yet I watch a lot of college basketball (even though it’s been surpassed by college volleyball as my 2nd favorite sport) and I watch college football nearly religiously.

As such I’ve never bought a Madden or NBA game, but have bought every NCAA football game and CH2Kx game (and even a couple of EA’s bad college basketball games before I could see how bad they were compared to 2K’s).
                              Favorite Teams:

College #2: Michigan State Spartans (my alma mater)
College #3: North Carolina Tar Heels
                              NHL: Detroit Redwings
