    High amount of sacks

Am I the only one who is experiencing this? I haven't seen much talk about it. Seems like since the latest title update it has been a problem of mine. I've been averaging 7 sacks per game, no matter what I put the pass blocking to for the CPU. It's driving me insane! Granted I user DE, but I had a CPU controlled DE have 24 sacks on the year and was 2nd in the Heisman running. My other DE I control was 1st on the list with 27.5 sacks. I wasn't having this issue until the update.

It's literally my only complaint gameplay wise right now. That and the hidden punt meter deep in your own territory, but that is experienced by everyone.

I definitely get too many sacks, but mine tend to be coverage sacks. @ Michigan we led the nation with 78 sacks (4.9 per game)…. I didn’t know if it was because of the patch, or because of Michigan’s greater talent as I didn’t get too many @ Louisville before the patch. With Louisville I was 31st in the nation with 36 sacks (2.5 per game).

It’s crazy to get twice as many sacks when comparing back to back seasons, but I couldn’t tell you if it’s because of the talent disparity, or because of the patch since they both changed between seasons.

I will say this, though. Your individual sack numbers seem crazy to me. Maybe it’s cuz I rotate my players with auto subs and RUSHDL depth charts, but even with 78 team sacks, my 2 sack leaders only had 14.5 and 10.5 compared with your multiple 24+ sack guys.

I'm using coachGunn's cpu vs cpu slider set which boosts pass blocking. Seems to be working for me.

I am 100% convinced the latest patch caused it to get worse.

I do CPU vs CPU as well. I set pass blocking and the speed threshold to zero (also have tackling and several other sliders at zero) and that has helped tremendously. I have also been tinkering with some of the coaching settings, like AI Adaptation and Aggressiveness.

It seems what I'm seeing now is QBs are forced to make quicker decisions with lower PB and the Threshold and Tackling sliders keep them from getting sucked in to animations.

Granted, there are still some super weird behaviors by the QB, but my settings have at least tampered them. I've had a few games with no sacks, or a really good, aggressive defense will have 4-5 and the other team will have zero or 1.

Before the patch I had a guy get 19.5 sacks, but the next season he only had 7 and graduated. The next season (played part pre and post patch), have a guy 22 sacks.

I think its mostly tied to talent disparity.

I’d have to agree. I’ve had [emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]] to [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]] sacks against crappy teams, and barely any pressure against good teams.

I sacked Georgia and Miami combined 18 times in 2 games, so it's definitely not the same in my experience. I feel like some of the traits of D linemen are just way to over the top right now. It felt so much better out of the box when the game dropped.

                What’s your theory behind these?

Pass blocking to zero in theory would raise sacks for the opposing team. Is that a User or CPU slider?

What’s your thinking behind 0 speed threshold?

                  Re: High amount of sacks

There have been way too many sacks since the last major game play patch. Both Human and CPU OL fall victim to the stand and rotate while watching the guy run by animation way too often. Doesn't matter what game mode, doesn't matter what the teams are, online or offline, sliders or default. There is just some really janky stuff happening with pass protection.

I thought pass protection was perfect Day 1 and has just gotten incrementally worse. Heaven forbid you want to run an under center offense with play action now. If your first read isn't open, it's over. It has also made Road to the CFP online basically unplayable because people can just sit in 7-8 man coverages and get pressure.

                    Re: High amount of sacks

What hurts sacks is the QB animation where he goes to throw the ball but somehow its glued to his hand as he gets sacked. The animation just seems off. Seems the ball should be released. Either as a bad pass or a worm burner

The QB animations as a whole are really strange. A lot of times there seems to be a delay between button press and action happening. At first I thought it was just me being really rusty but even with a ton of game time under my belt now I'll have so many plays where there is just a small hiccup worth of delay between button press and that action happening.

As a big option guy, it is worse on option pitches than passes. If you get within two yards of the defender you're pitching off of, it doesn't matter if you tap or hold pitch, you end up stuck in an animation that delays the pitch. Sometimes it will get to the back safely, others it'll end up 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage. I know I'm reading and timing it up well, but sometimes it feels on the rails.

It is the same with QB slides. I can't count how many times I've tapped slide, only for the slide animation to not trigger right away so I press it again and end up with a dive and inevitable fumble. I had a slide a few nights ago where my QB went to slide, got hit and just sort of plopped into a fumble animation. I challenged because he was down and it was fine, but I've started to be a lot quicker with the slide button these days.

                          Glad someone started this thread.

I have 34 sacks in 3 games, and that’s without even blitzing any LB’s or DB’s. It’s quickly making dynasty mode no longer any fun b/c I’m blowing everyone out.

I even bumped the CPU pass blocking to 60. I might just max it out at 100 next game and see what happens.

                            Re: High amount of sacks

I am seeing this as well. I don't think the issue is strictly rooted in the OL/DL play. It looks like to me the CPU QB's are failing to pull the trigger as often if a WR isn't completely wide open. They aren't forcing balls into tighter windows, even if their guy has a step on the defender, nearly as much as I remember before the patches.

Once I finish the current season in my dynasty I am going to mess with some adjustments, but I feel giving the CPU a slight pass block increase, decreasing user coverage, slightly increasing user reaction time, and slightly increasing CPU accuracy & catching may all combine to help improve the CPU passing attack through getting the logic into a better place.

Increasing pass blocking obviously gives them slightly more time.

Decreasing coverage will get WR's more separation leading to the QB getting rid of the ball more frequently.

Increasing reaction will allow the user defenders to break on balls quicker and swarm quicker helping them break up passes or limit YAC so that the lowered coverage doesn't bust the gameplay wide open.

Increasing accuracy will help QB's be more accurate and more "confident" in their logic.

Increasing catching will help WR's get separation and also improve QB logic.

How much to move each I will need to figure out, but I think with the right combination of changes we can find a remedy for this issue.

What defense are you running? My OD is on varsity and I don't really get many sacks even when I user a DE with gold Quick Jump.
