Franchise Mode Goalie Save % too low

Now, I'm only talking about the goalie that plays for whichever team I am controlling, but I get 5-6 games into several different franchises and my goalie sv % usually hovers between 80-84%. I routinely give up 4 goals on only around 20-23ish shots, and on the rare occasions the CPU gets more shots, inevitably more go in.

I've got Goalie sliders all the way up to 100 for the "save" ones, both user and CPU, I've played on Pro and All-Star, I've messed with CPU shot accuracy and power sliders....nothing seems to help my goalies at all.

Any thoughts on what else I can do? I'd like to fire up a game thinking that maybe it might be possible to only give up one or two goals today and maybe even sniff the possibility of a shutout?! Or at the very least, not have to reverse sort the goalie stats to find mine at the bottom of the list in all the stats.

What have you got your CPU shot accuracy settings at? I keep mine 37-42 range for all 3 types of shots (and also lower power to 40-42), this still results in around 30 shots at 7 min periods and my save pct is around 890-900

I've tried shot accuracy at 45 and several numbers lower all the way down to 9. I lowered power but maybe not all the way down to 40, and I also play 5 minute periods. The longer periods plus playing on All-star is how I get to 30+ shots, but still seeing 4-6 goals go in every game. Never get anywhere close to 0-1 allowed.

This has been an issue forever with this series. I've done full seasons where I've ended up with realistic GAA, W/L and SO numbers but SV% is basically never above .900 for user goalies.

Gonna be honest here. On default sliders, All Star difficulty in 6 franchise games thus far, I have given up more than 2 goals just once. And, in my last game, I got a 28 save shutout with Ville Husso of Detroit.

It's not a "slider' issue at all.

It's a positional defense issue (and has been for years)

If you keep switching players, and "chase the puck", players will be severely out of position, and more shots will go in.

You have to play sound, positional defense, just like in real life. I try not to switch derenders until absolutely necessary. This way, you don't get multiple defenders out of position, and players are in better position to clear rebounds/intercept passes, and clog up shooting lanes.

This right here. I can’t stress this enough as well. When I am not playing well it is typically because I get caught chasing the puck and not maintaining my defensive position.
