Commish cheating in OD?

I'm in an online dynasty with my buddy and I'm think he might be cheating. He is the commish. We took player editing off at the beginning of the dynasty. It didn't matter all that much since you couldn't edit stats at the time. Then that patch came where they instituted player editing.

I noticed a few days ago that player editing was changed from "None" to "Commissioner Only". The next time I was online, it was changed back to "None".

After seeing that, I went to his roster and was looking at his QB's. This was during Week 10 of our dynasty. I took a picture of his is QB just to see if anything would be amiss. When we rolled around to the transfer portal time, I took another pic of his QB roster. Some sketchy things popped up.

His third string QB went from a speed of 92 to 98. His change of direction went form 91 to 99. His awareness went from 73 to 82. This QB also recorded zero stats throughout the year.

There are other players who have some questionable stats but I gotta pay more attention now.

It's possible, but player progression isn't based off stats, so that QB could have progressed naturally without taking any snaps.

You'd need to track more players regularly through the year to see if he's doing anything.

I haven't looked for it but I know in Madden it kept a log of players being edited. It wasn't super helpful in seeing what was edited but it would show a player was edited. Could be ratings, position, helmet or arm sleeve type stuff.

Not sure if this is in NCAA.

It just seems off for me that all those big increases happened between week 10 and the transfer portal. Maybe the QB is a unicorn in the game.

I had a DT with 98 speed in my dynasty before. Weird stuff does happen I can assure you.

I’d look to see what the skill caps are. I’ve had cbs and wrs jump from 92 speed to 99 speed. So i wouldn’t rule it out.

Really comes down to how much you trust the commish. It’s also ok to walk away if you don’t.

A point I think a lot of you might be missing is he made this jump between week 10 and the transfer portal, so it doesn’t include offseason progression (which would’ve been the most likely reason for that much progression) and it’s not even a whole season’s worth of progression, but only about 6 weeks or so.

Agreed. That much of a jump in 8 weeks during the season is suspicious. It could be legitimate, but then you factor this in the OP:

I think you are rightfully suspicious. It could be legitimate. I know I don't have enough experience / insight to know what is an abnormal progression. Awareness jumping 9 points to 82 is over a 12% increase over the last half of the season.

A friend had a WR's speed increase from low 90's to high 90's in one season.

In 6 weeks of in season progression though? Thru off-season progression I could see however.

I agree the speed increasing by 6.5% in a half season is significant. But the awareness jumping 12.3% is almost twice that. Change of Direction from 91 to 99 is an 8.8% increase. That QB would be a beast if he can throw the ball adequately. I may plug these numbers into a QB on a weak team just to see how difficult he is to stop.


I know I have not played enough to be "an expert" on player progression but I have never noticed more than a 10% increase in any attribute in one season. My starting TE's Catching has increased from an 90 to a 93 (3.3% increase) this season and I'm in the playoffs and he has an Impact Development Trait (develops at a faster than normal rate).



This might be legitimate if he has an Elite Development Trait. I'm not sure if I have ever signed a recruit with Elite. But according to EA's deep dive in dynasty:

In college football, the offseason is the most impactful time period when it comes to player development. While players can improve throughout the season, the bulk of their progression and development happens during the spring and summer.

Is this player an existing player? You can't edit ratings for real players.

Great point, the example I used was in the off-season. If it was in-season, that's really fishy.
