The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.

Nestor Cortes was an interesting decision. Great game.
Was an odd one having not pitched in a month putting him in at that spot. Great opener to the series, only hope they continue being competitive and nail biting throughout.

MLB got their wish with this matchup.
Last time these two faced off in the WS, we had the likes of Reggie Jackson, Dusty Baker and Lou Piniella playing in it.

Yep. First World Series I watched on TV (I was still trying to process the trauma of Blue Monday).
Other fun facts from 1981 Dodgers/Yankees:
- the games were called by announcers famous for their association with other sports: Al Michaels, Keith Jackson, and Howard Cosell (!!! - holy sh** I'm old)
- the only World Series (or series in any league that I can think of) with tri-MVPs (Ron Cey, Pedro Guerrero, Steve Yeager)
- the only World Series to feature both Mr. October and "Mr. May" (Steinbrenner's nickname for Dave Winfield after he went 1-for-22 in the Series)
- 1st World Series to feature teams that didn't finish with the best record in their division/league (a split-season format was used due to a player strike; the Reds had the best record in the majors but didn't make the playoffs)
- there was no DH used - in either park! Although the AL adopted the DH in 1973, MLB couldn't really decided what to do with it in the World Series
1973-1975: no DH used in any games
1976-1985: no DH used in any games (odd years only), DH used in all games (even years only)
1986-2019, 2021: DH used only when AL is home team
- Down 2-0 in the series, Fernando Valenzuela threw a 147-pitch complete-game 5-4 win (allowing 16 baserunners in the process!) in Game 3 to save LA's season
- 3 of the 4 Dodgers wins were by 1 run, but their only save was registered in Game 6's 9-2 blowout - by future Yankee drug king Steve Howe, no less!
- Steve Sax/Mike Scioscia won two titles as teammates - the 1981 World Series with the Dodgers, and the 1992 Springfield/Shelbyville Nuclear Power Plant Championship with Springfield (although Sax/Scioscia were unable to play in the title game due to arrest/radiation poisoning respectively)
wait, Al Michaels is so old he called a game in which Dusty Baker and Lou Piniella PLAYED in?
edit: oh and that other thing happened
