Defensive Matchups

We are over two months from release and this is still broken. The cpu constantly assigns matchups during a game and half are idiotic. C guarding pg. This is stupid and no good excuse for not fixing other than this fix is only for nonprofit offline gamers. 2K ticking me off.

User or cpu? Custom roster or default? Sliders? I ask cause I don’t see this happening “constantly”

I agree. Play as Shai vs Atlanta and abuse Trae Young for 100 points, calling
ISOs. Dyson Daniels parked in a corner next to Lu Dort or something silly.

And I do notice my players assigned in silly ways (C guarding a PG etc.). Tends to happen when you manually change any. The assignment you set + the auto assign for everyone else gets all ****ed up. It's irritating.

This used to function fine in previous 2Ks.

This happens every single game I play and I don’t even set any matchups. Do NBA Today or Exhibition and I see it constantly. Pause the game at halftime and check it. Custom sliders but that shouldn’t matter. It’s inexcusable.

Yup the CPU will randomly assign the C to guard the PG for your own team and the opponent’s

Was just about to come here and ask if there's any fix for this.


Have ACE turned off completely for defense, assign my own matchups manually, works for most of the game, then a critical possession comes with 20s left and Mike Conley is suddenly matched up with LeBron on an iso. So either scramble in-game to bring over a wing and switch manually which leaves someone wide open and scrambling or use a timeout just to correct it ffs


Is there any schedule when these big Season 1, 2, 3 etc. are coming out or is this random?

It happens after timeouts. They said they fixed it but they did not. Also ACE subs still aren’t working correctly. I’m waiting to start a franchise until both are fixed, but I’m beginning to think they either don’t know how to fix it yet or are focused on other things first.

Not only that, but when I try to set defensive settings for screens/onball/offball defense for the cpu to make the gameplay more realistic, it just doesn't work. I’ve tried everything to fix this, changing defensive settings for both teams, turning off ACE, and even setting defense to manual. It only works for the team I’m controlling, and even then, it’s inconsistent. For CPU vs. CPU games, the defensive settings I’ve configured are completely ignored. It's crazy how this should be such a simple and easy fix but they only care about park and myTeam.

I'd been dealing with this since the games release but have finally had enough and decided to browse this forum before making a separate post. It's unacceptable because this didn't happen in 2Ks prior.

It doesn't matter if you assign matchups (which I've had to stop doing because of this), or if you leave it on automatic--2K will eventually randomly assign matchups after a substitution is made on either team (CPU or User).

It really takes away from the realism and immersiveness of the game, because it's bad enough that I have the game altering my lineups in a quick game I just had using the Lakers against the Celtics, but having to switch over to the Celtics again and again to stop them putting Horford on D'Angelo Russell (which left Holiday/Pritchard on AD) was just too exhausting and I ended up closing the application to get on here to rant.

Thankfully it's not just me experiencing this stuff. Hopefully it gets patched.

This is so annoying...
I finally made decent sliders for myself and game plays really well but CPU always ****s up matchups or occasionally even rotations at situatio s that dont make sense. But the C matched with a guard is super annoying.

When I see it happen I just switch teams and change their matchups and it usually doesn’t happen anymore…… if u swap their starting C and the backup C to guard your two Centers it seems to solve the problem for the most part….. but I’m not seeing it all the time like some of yall have said

Turn ACE off, I’m not seeing it anymore. ACE does more harm than good anyways.

The new patch is finally supposed to fix it. Time to try it out again once it drops.
