“Love”. Sure. But a 10+ overall increase less than 20 games into your career is a bit of an overreaction, and seems to be a decision they made to keep certain teams still competitive in online play.

I love seeing Jared McCain getting some love. But their ratings are always more of a "What have you done lately?" kind of thing. If they start coming back to either their ratings will be adjusted in the next update. An 83 is an appropriate rating for how McCain is playing right now.

They nerfed Maxey's attributes, he's not playing well but I feel like they nerf him faster than any other player when he goes through a slump, they did the same last year.

Yabo should have gotten a 3 increase.

          I see they updated th Mccain <span class="emoji-outer emoji-sizer"><span class="emoji-inner" style="background: url(chrome-extension://gaoflciahikhligngeccdecgfjngejlh/emoji-data/sheet_apple_32.png);background-position:50% 61.98589894242068%;background-size:5418.75% 5418.75%" data-codepoints="1f4aa"></span></span>

I criticized 2K for their lack of Badge work on the Rookies and they evidently listened. I commend 2K for their efforts here. Very positive roster update, most rookies were in desperate need of an OVR boost.

It bears mentioning again that Badges have a larger impact on OVR than in past years, which is why some Rookies went up such a large degree.

BIG MOVERS (+/- 3 or more)
83 (+10) Jared McCain (PHI) - Biggest update in 2K history? Certainly in last 10 years

            72 (+3) Ajay Mitchell (OKC)
            70 (-4) Xavier Tillman (BOS)

            Among Rookie Movers:
-Without crunching anything, I will be the first to say I approve of McCain's rating. I personally already had him at 80 OVR (with 8 Badges). Based on his production thus far, it's warranted. He's played enough of a sample (14 games, 314 mins) that it isn't really a fluke. At 3.9 BPM, he is BY FAR the best rookie (Knecht 0.9, Edey 0.3). 2005 Ben Gordon is a great comparison for McCain: 2nd in ROY and won Sixth Man of the Year. 83 is the range of that caliber of player.

-Knecht has had a huge last 5 games, including 37 pts on 102 TS% in his last one. Both those guys have risen past the rest of the class for top rookies.

-Edey has been very effective, though he's missed the last week since Draymond injured him.

-Missi eclipsed Theis as the Pelicans starter. He's limited but effective.

-Ditto Clingan, who might as well keep starting when DeAndre Ayton comes back given the franchise's direction.

-Filipowski has established himself as Utah's starting PF since Taylor Hendricks season-ending injury. He's a Kelly Olynyk type which they were very successful with the two prior seasons.

-Kolek is a Knick who Thibs trusts actually trusts when someone is hurt. Payne and McBride have missed time due to injuries and Kolek has played well in their absence.

            Among non-Rookie Movers:
-Dyson Daniels had a huge Steals streak

-Bennedict Mathurin has broken out, filling in for the injured Aaron Nesmith

-Ty Jerome is your latest Jeremy Lin / Flip Murray type

-Goga Bitadze never should have been that low in the first place given the contract he signed, probably the starter even after Wendell Carter Jr comes back

-Malik Beasley having a bounceback season

-Steven Adams firmly a backup, no longer starter quality

-Fluctuation in the Bucks SG carousel (Green/Jackson/Trent). A bit surprised to see Trent drop as much given he's righted the ship (and prob remains the best of the three), but they didn't account enough for his drop earlier in the season I suppose.

Online Play is definitely not a factor considering the vast majority of Attributes that get changed (Shot IQ and Intangibles) have zero impact in Online games. OVR only matters in MyNBA.

Man 2k ****ed up the launch ratings so bad, especially rookies, that i think ima have to restart my main MyNBA save for the 3rd time.

I know the main roster problem is theres way too many players in the 80-89ovrl range, but having every single rookie rated 75 or below when the game launched was such a dumb decision. If most of the league is rated 80+ in the game, most of the rookies dont even freaking play.

Maxey NEVER got nerfed last year. I keep records on this.
                4/11/23 = 84 (Final 2K23)
                9/8/23 = 85 (Initial 2K24)
                11/9/24 = 87 (First Update)
                3/7/24 = 88
                5/7/24 = 89 (Playoff Update)

                2024 Maxey: 45 FG%, 37 3PT%, 87 FT%, 25.9 PPG, 6.2 APG
                2025 Maxey: 39 FG%, 27 3PT%, 83 FT%, 25.1 PPG, 3.6 APG

Maxey's OVR didn't even go down in this update. He goes through the same attribute fluctuations as everyone else. Man's has an 83 3PT rating (-2) while shooting 27%, what more do you want???

He's been playing there out of necessity but changing Jalen's position to PF/C is a bit weird. He's still a wing.

OKC are obviously one of the more complex teams in the game and break conventional coding.

Secondary position is necessary or else the game won't play him there with all the Cs hurt.

Even with all the bigs healthy, Jalen still wouldn't get a ton of mins at SF given how loaded OKC is on the perimeter.

(Given the effectiveness of such lineups, this is probably here to stay).

Ingram does fluctuate quite a bit - he's streaky because his 3-ball isn't consistent.

                        2024 Ingram Monthly
                        Nov: 24 PPG (50 FG%, 32 3PT%)
                        Dec: 23 PPG (50 FG%, 41 3PT%)
                        Jan: 18 PPG (45 FG%, 35 3PT%)
                        Feb: 22 PPG (49 FG%, 40 3PT%)
                        Mar: 17 PPG (51 FG%, 32 3PT%)

                        Pre-ASB: 21 PPG (50 FG%, 43 3PT%) - 51 gms
                        Post-ASB: 18 PPG (47 FG%, 23 3PT%) - 13 gms
                        Playoffs: 14 PPG (35 FG%, 25 3PT%)

                        2025: 23 PPG (47 FG%, 37 3PT%)

                        2K24 Rating History
                        9/8 = 85
                        11/9 = 84
                        11/30 = 85
                        12/21 = 86
                        1/25 = 85
                        2/15 = 86
                        3/7 = 87
                        5/7 = 86

2K in general always leans more positively. Ingram finished the year on a low note but still had a higher rating than what he started with.

Yeah but him going down is realistic considering he hasn't played at the same All-Star type of level.

                            Maxey Attribute Changes (since 9/4)
                            90 Close Shot (+8)
                            79 Mid-Range (-7)
                            83 3PT Shot (-2)
                            82 Free Throw (-7)
                            70 Pass Vision (-9)
                            25 OffReb (-7) - Has zero in 8 games, 297 minutes
                            55 Block (+4)
                            53 Steal (+12)

These changes (which feature a few increases) are more than fair.

(Also, bizarre timing for this sentiment considering Maxey missed the entirety of this Rating cycle, these are all probably from the 11/7 update)

Any chance someone can upload the badges that got added to the rookies from the list:

                              10 (+10) Jared McCain (PHI)
                              8 (+2) Stephon Castle (SAS)
                              7 (+7) Zach Edey (MEM)
                              6 (+6) Dalton Knecht (LAL)
                              5 (+5) Donovan Clingan (POR)
                              3 (+3) Kyle Filipowski (UTA)
                              3 (+3) Oso Ighodaro (PHX)
                              2 (+2) Yves Missi (NOP)
                              2 (+2) Ajay Mitchell (OKC)
                              1 (+1) Antonio Reeves (NOP)

I'm on PC so don't have the update yet, I can see only McCain's ones that got listed previously
