Re: EA Sports College Football 25 Player Ratings Update (12-5)
Wild that Abdul Carter is so high (he should be), but Matayo Uiagalelei and Jordan Burch (who have more sacks, Burch also missed 4 games) get no love. I’m not saying he shouldn’t be high, but. Ducks defense is kinda being underrated by everyone right now.Comment

Usually means his style of play is not what his current team covets more or less. I could be wrong, but I don't believe the ratings should be different but you can obviously easily check the accuracy of that by matching this info from EA to how the individual ratings look within dynasty.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: EA Sports College Football 25 Player Ratings Update (12-5)
An easy example is having a 90 overall QB that's a pure scrambler with crazy athleticism but weak passing skills. In the main menu, he's a 90. In Dynasty mode for a team with a scheme requiring a Field General archetype QB he may drop to a 79 overall since his passing ratings are mediocre.
This is all moot if the actual values of each individual rating are changing in your case and not just the overall calculation.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

As Chase was alluding to, I think what you see with the 93 overall is his basic overall rating while his 78 in Dynasty is based off how he rated at that position based off the team's scheme.

I don't believe they should be missing badges as that shouldn't have anything to do with anything beyond the player himself. OVR makes sense that it would change based on scheme, but the badges a player has should be static.I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). Re: EA Sports College Football 25 Player Ratings Update (12-5)
My interpretation on the ratings changes from main menu to dynasty is just that they are flat out given the wrong archetype upon starting a dynasty. I don't think it has to do with the coach's scheme, it's just giving them the incorrect archetype. Like in Kaleb Johnson's case I want to say it was making him the receiving back archetype instead of power back (going off of memory, so I may be wrong). His ratings are more well suited for the power back archetype which is where he would have his original 93 ovr, but if he is assigned the receiving back archetype his ovr decreases to 78 because his individual ratings do not fit that archetype well. I doubt that the Iowa coach's scheme would prefer a receiving back archetype.
From what I can tell, the players affected by this are most often players that weren't a part of the original roster that shipped with the game. So for a lot of teams, it is some new freshman that were added in one of the roster updates. For my Oregon State online dynasty I had about 5 freshman with steep ratings decreases when we initially started, due to the archetype issue. However, I was able to fix each of their archetypes in the first offseason during position changes. I had two freshman running backs that were 5-10 pts lower in overall compared to the main menu roster because of archetype. In the position changes screen, I moved each to FB or some other position. Then immediately opened each player up again in the position changes screen and moved them back to RB. For both guys it fixed their overall since it was now assigning them the correct preferred archetype for their ratings.
So this doesn't help fix archetypes for CPU teams/players, or players who are seniors or leave for the draft after year 1. But for any underclassmen that are on your user controlled team in dynasty, they can be fixed in offseason position changes after year 1Last edited by gopherfan7815; 12-05-2024, 06:40 PM.Comment

Re: EA Sports College Football 25 Player Ratings Update (12-5)
From what I’ve read the reason for the OVR drop is that the player’s tendency drops. It’s not that Iowa wants a power back, but Johnson is a receiving back (as an example) but rather in the default roster Johnson is a power back (again, an example as I haven’t looked at a roster outside of my ongoing dynasty in 3 months), but when imported into dynasty he’s listed as a receiving back. Using this example, Johnson has great trucking and BTK, and other power back attributes, so he’s a 90 OVR power back. But his receiving skills suck, so he’s a 78 OVR receiving back.
As for badges, every tendency in the game has the same 5 badges and can’t ever have any other badge (I.e. every power back has the same 5 potential badges, whereas every receiving back has the same 5 badges as each other, but they’re mostly different than the 5 every power back has). If the issue is Johnson’s tendency changing, then that’s why his badges are different.
Also, if his tendency changes, then that’s how he’ll progress in dynasty. I.e. he’ll no longer be able to improve trucking and other power back attributes, but will only be able to progress as a receiving back.Favorite Teams:

Re: EA Sports College Football 25 Player Ratings Update (12-5)
I have to rant on LaNorris Sellers. Last ratings update his rating got dropped to a 77, kinda understandable because he didnt have the greatest start throwing the ball or not fumbling it. Last 6 games team goes undefeated, passing 13 td 3 int, rushing for over 400 yards and 4 td, an incredible highlight reel of broken sacks and scrambles and that gets him an overall boost only up to 82? Only tied for 8th in break sack? I appreciate the ratings boost, 5 is better than nothing, but hes now tied for 17th in ovr amongst sec qb's, that is insane. Overall theyve done a good job this season and in this latest update a lot of players got a deserved ratings boost including on Sellers' team.
Yeah the archetype issue when starting a dynasty is still there, just gotta hope they fix it for the next game.Comment

Re: EA Sports College Football 25 Player Ratings Update (12-5)
Yeah, there's a weird glitch where anyone who was added to the game or had their position changed after launch gets their archetype changed when you start a dynasty. Kaleb Johnson wasn't in the game at launch, and like all RBs added later, he's changed to a Receiveing Back. Which kills his Overall, since he's got poor receiving attributes.
Any OLBs and DEs, as another example, become Power Rushers. So if they're a Coverage Style Linebacker, or a Speed Rusher they now have a terrible Overall at their primary position, and lose badges.
And then some players just lose badges Dillon Gabriel has Gold Sleight of Hand, Resistance, Dot, Headstrong, Fan Favorite, and Field General, plus Purple Step Up on the roster. But in Dynasty, he's got a purple Fan Favorite, Road Dog, and Headstrong, Gold Sleight of Hand and Step Up, Silver Resistance and Dot, and Bronze Pull Down. Loses Field General entirely. And his Archetype hasn't changed (which is, ironically, Field General).
