LEFT - UCLA was on the verge of taking an early lead before this errant throw by Jimmy Luna was intercepted on the goal line.
CENTER - It did not take USC long to capitalize on the goal line INT with Terrance Vaughns finding the corner with the jet sweep for an 89 yard touchdown one play later.
RIGHT - DE Sergio Gray with the statement sack to end the 59-0 beat down.
Pasadena, CA. - "It doesn't feel too good from this side," lamented Bruins HC and former Trojan OC Matt Cassel when asked about his first matchup against his alma mater.
The USC Trojans looked ready to remind the nation who they were after last weeks embarrassing loss to 6-3 Oregon. The Trojans would score on three of their first four possessions with a defensive touchdown thrown on top for a 28-0 half time lead.
The Trojans used a balanced attack to keep UCLA off balance to start the contest and build their 28-0 hafltime lead (10 rush, 12 pass), but once they took the field in the 2nd half the emphasis on the running game was apparent as the Trojans added another 250 rushing yards to the 89 they had already accumulated for a staggering 339 total rushing yards.
"I think we all kind of put the blame on ourselves after last weeks upset," revealed Heisman contender PJ Shembo.
"I know the media wanted to point to Andre's struggles, but if we're doing our job and churning out yards then the defense isn't keying on him."
Shembo rush for 179 yards while reserve and #2 Heisman contender Manny Velaso would chip in another 114 while the duo combined for 5 touchdowns on the ground.
The Trojans win coupled with the shocking upset of the Michigan Wolverines (31-24 vs Indiana) means the Trojans have clinched their spot in the Big Ten Conference Championship Game for the 8th straight season.
Southern Cal will "return" home for next weeks contest against the #17 Notre Dame Fighting Irish who will be looking to end the season on a positive note after their loss to Tennessee this weekend. The Fighting Irish will need a win over USC and a lot of help if they have any hope of making the CFP Playoff this season.
