Anyone notice that the Wingers on Punt Returns don't block the gunners? As soon is the ball leaves the Punter's foot they just stop blocking and sprint towards the Punter...

Also, they dont try to down the ball. They follow the returner. If the returner moves up to let the ball go past them, you will see guys go to the returner instead of trying to beat the ball before it goes in the endzone.
Its been that way forever. They put little logic/effort into special teams.Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players

They don't have a blocking slider for special teams that you could customize to your liking.
EA doesn't even pay much attention to this aspect of the game.

Special teams is definitely a throw away item in Madden. I'm shocked that the new kick return rules made it into the game but other than a "new and improved" kicking meter every 6 years, special teams gets no attention year in and year out.Comment

Couldn't agree with everyone more. Between these issue and the fact that the CPU never misses a kick inside 50 yards, I've never seen the CPU block a FG, it's been years since I've seen the CPU have a true blocked punt, and it's 50/50 that the punter will shank the punt out of bounds when punting near the 50 yard line. The special teams sliders seem to only effect the User and not the CPU in franchise mode. It's a shame...Comment
