Totally agree with this. Even though APF was a financial flop the first time around, it was before the age of modes like Madden Ultimate Team and Diamond Dynasty. I'd have to think this time around they'd make you grind or pay to unlock legends. As someone who has never paid for DLC in a sports game, if it means bringing back my favorite sports series of all time, I can live with that. That said, 2K has given no indication of releasing another non-NFL game, so who knows if this will ever happen.

Without NFL teams, I doubt the ultimate team type of mode would move the needle for anyone. The fact is they need the licenses or most people aren’t buying the game. That’s how EA killed off PES for the most part, at least to the point that they completely scaled down the game to just the UT type of mode where barely anyone plays it.

I wish I could access the archives here, because when the announcement was made 20 years ago (!), I posted on these forums that we would never see another non-EA football game. Going on 2 decades now, and haven't been proven wrong...

If 2K brings back a college basketball game, I'll call it even at this point.

It’s also a chance that there might not be any announcement about a cancellation. Hell, EA has never officially cancelled NBA Live in the past 6 years now.

I still don't get why there is only one style of video football offered (yes, I know, money). There would surely be a collection of gamers other than me that would religiously play a game similar to OOTP.


I enjoy playing video football, but mostly I want my Bo Nix to play like Bo Nix, not my chubby stupid thumbs and pea brain being Bo Nix. I want to game plan, manage personnel, and manage the game. I know that this kind of game falls under the simulation tab, but it is a different simulation.


2K probably isn't the developer for that style but maybe

Are they scared to make a sandbox game?
Remember all pro was only a few years after the first exclusivity
So of course fans weren't ready
20+ yrs had passed
We are definitely ready for a different football game and 2k would reap the benefits
With VC and DLC
Both weren't available in 2008[emoji1745]
