Re: February All Star Trade Regular Season Discussion
People can say what they want about the ASG, but what happens if this year's completely blows up in the NBAs faces?
They're doing it tournament style. 4 teams, 3 games. Each game is a first to 40 points wins.
If its a competitive game then it could be fun as we're guaranteed anywhere from 120-237 combined points in this one (NBA average is 227 combined points in a game), but as you can also see, the max combined total is much closer to the NBA average than the min combined total, meaning we could very well see much less scoring than usual. So does it have the same effect as overly high scoring games where people might say it's boring because by the end of it we could be getting well under 200 combined points on the night (1973 is last time we had under 200 combined points on all star night, and only time dating back to the 60s).
Or, what if it's not competitive at all and each game which isn't timed (it ends once someone hits 40) takes under 10 minutes if there was a game clock? For context, last year's ASG we saw them get to 120 points 3 mins into the 3rd which means 27 total minutes of game time.Comment

Re: February All Star Trade Regular Season Discussion
they should just scrap it. the fact a little effort is too much is aggravating but it's fine. they should already get rid of the dunk contest when you look at this year's field. treat it like the little break everyone wants but maybe I'm in the minority there.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: February All Star Trade Regular Season Discussion
The teams this year are interesting as Shaq went with the big names (aka only the guys he knew), Kenny went for the younger/newer all stars since they'd try harder to shine as not every all star game is guaranteed, and Chuck went with Team World. But with no TNT coverage of the game starting next year I feel like it'll be much worse. I actually look forward to the inside guys covering all star weekend more than I do the actual events at times
Dont know how well it would be, but maybe make it 3 on 3 and have 8 total teams. Each team starts with 3 guys on it (no bench) and each game is 6 minutes (6 mins x 6 games is 36 mins).
And to make it more fun, the winning team gets to pick 1 player from the losing team to join their team, so by the finals each team has 5 guys on it for a 10 min game, bringing the total action time to 46 mins.Last edited by Majingir; 02-07-2025, 08:59 PM.Comment
