It's been reported they never even made an offer for Bregman.

That seems real confusing if that's the case, and if it is true, why wouldn't they go after him. And also, would that be further proof that these insiders make stuff up since people have claimed for so long that the Jays were in the running for him but meanwhile they might not have ever made an offer?

There's so much going on behind the scenes, you can never tell what to believe. If Toronto never made an offer, it could have been Team Bregman ''leaking'' that the Blue Jays did, just to drive up his asking price, or it could be that Toronto doesn't want it known they were jilted, so they deny making an offer. And at this point, Team Bregman doesn't need to set the story straight, they won't care if Toronto is trying to save face. Bregman has no motive to embarrass Toronto. All we know for certain is either Toronto made Bregman an offer, or they didn't. Which is to say we don't know anything, except who he did sign with, lol.

Jays didn't reach a deal with Vladdy before the deadline.

How does their management still have a job after that? If you're going to lose Bo and Vlad for nothing, you deserved to be fired.

That could set this franchise back at least 5-10 years.

Letting your franchise guy walk and also raising ticket prices even more, good luck with those 10,000 crowd days.

Anything exciting on in the summer of 2026 because if Vladdy and Bo walk, I'm done with the team for a while.

NY Sports Radio is circling in the waters knowing that the Mets have inquired with Toronto. Even if Toronto looks for the best possible deal, they're saying that other competitors won't put out their best offers knowing that Vlad still is going to Free Agency. This means going against Cohen.

They blew this years ago when they failed to negotiate a long-term extension.

If Vlad wanted in the Juan Soto range (or even $100M less) then I can't blame the Jays for tying all that money into a first baseman. I don't think he is as good as Soto but it is a bad look given that were supposedly in on Ohtani and Soto.

They have to trade him before the season starts. They can probably still get decent value for him rather than let him walk at the end of the season for virtually nothing. His pending free agency will be a distraction the entire season -- I'm not sure management realizes that. My fear is that they won't do that (or try to do that at the deadline when there will be even fewer teams willing to trade something decent for him).

Just an incredible self-own by the Jays. Vladdy is worth 100m more in Toronto than he would be anywhere else. If you can't keep your charismatic, Canadian-born, son-of-an-Expos-legend superstar, what are you doing? It's crystal clear that big names have no desire to play in Canada unless it's both a gross overpay and there are no other alternatives (and this is before the US anthem getting booed 81x this season and Canadians' disposable income going down soon). Bad vibes, bad stadium, bad division to win in. The Jays should read the tea leaves and become Tampa North; instead, because of Rogers' flop sweat, they're more likely to become Angels East. Utter failure.

Whatever you do, don't pull a Nico Harrison, try to get as much value as possible.

That ship has sailed. The Jays will get far less for Vladdy than the Padres got for Soto.

The Nico Harrison equivalent would've been Toronto trading Guerrero to the Yankees in early 2022 for Giancarlo Stanton.

I don't like AD, but he is much better than 2022 Stanton. I think my comp would be Byron Buxton.

I th8ink it may be time to find a new franchise to follow. Unless they get rid if everybody above their backup shortstop!!! What a joke!!! If he signs for anything less than $45M per year then the Jays failed the entire country!!

At this stage of his career, I know I really shouldn't be excited, but I'm pretty pumped Kimbrel is back with the Braves.
