The last time I went was Oppenheimer and that's because I wanted to see it but knew I wouldn't be able to sit through it in my house.
A lot of the movies are unnecessarily long now. With reserved seating you can show up a few minutes late and skip most of the previews to save time but still.. a lot of the movies out now need to be cut short by 20-30 minutes at least.
A few years ago I built a 135" projector screen and mounted a projector. I like the theater experience but it's expensive for a family. There's some good AMC memberships that provide good value for single viewers but for a family it costs a good bit of $$.
The theater I went to growing up and in HS was closed down a long time ago. You have to drive 45-50 minutes to get to one now. I can spend $5-10 renting a movie on Amazon or just streaming something and pop some popcorn at home and still enjoy movies with the projector. Last weekend I sat down with the kids and watched Mrs. Doubtfire
