MLB The Show 16 ~ 2025 Rosters (decrypted)

Updating a roster I found on YouTube that I thought was fairly up to date to the end of the 2024 season, but there's still a lot of work to be done. I was able to decrypt the roster and initial testing in the RPCS3 has been successful (outside of it's current know graphical glitches) and playable. I'll use this thread as the repository for people still interested in this game. Encrypting it back for use on a PS3 console is also a consideration (I do have the digital version of the game and have a slight interest in this, but mainly I'm interested in how it can work in RPCS3 and online with Parsec.) Check back in here from time to time for updates.

Phase 1: Player movement and creation, by division, no edits
Phase 2: Continued movements over time as transactions are updated in time for opening day
Phase 3: Pitcher pitch types more accurate as needed
Phase 4: Player speeds more accurate
    Phase 5: Player attribute edits

I'll release an "alpha" ver. with each division I complete; also actually had 1 generic face actually show up pretty decently. Makes me wonder if there are more combinations.

Response #2 will be the repository area.

Nice little HR robbery by Nats CF during testing:

Still at this for now. Phase 1 done for both NL East & Central. Absolutely not doing 40 man rosters.

Playability from start to finish still seems to be there. Not bothering with MLB stadiums any longer and I'd be surprised if the graphical glitches there could ever be worked out. If I could get the created players faces to look somewhat normal, I'd be happy.

It would be nice to export a hard coded original game player to a created player, but it doesn't provide that direction. When you go the other way, the hard coded player inherits everything from the created player, and therefore the face problem remains.

It would be nice if there was a way to break the code of the hard coded players and at least edit their names as everything else attributes wise is editable.

Addendum: slight update -- did a little experiment in The Show 11 and found that keeping all of the generic faces as "Head Shape 1" and "Normal Complexion" with no facial hair, only skins 1 & 3 (out of 8) produced some anomaly on screen. It's possible that these 2 skins account for the bases of the oddities. But at least you can have 6 different skin tones for created/minor league players! Going to see if this holds true in 16.

Addendum 2: at first I thought I had some gains in a few combinations of head shapes, facial hair and skin tones that were acceptable, but clearly after additional testing, the same basic features you apply to one previously created player (e.g., shaved; skin 4, no facial hair, no blemishes) doesn't look the same to another, though it should. The only thing I can derive from this is to try to get a few basic generics that work and then export/import to another created player, then change the 2nd player to the given actual player wanted, with those basic features holding. I think that' s about the best that can be done at this point, unless something major changes with emulation in the future.

Well, since I can now export original created players from the base roster and have some "stable" in game faces, this now makes it more playable. There's going to initially be a small sample of working faces for clean shaven and basic beards (nothing more at this point) for Caucasian, Hispanic and Black. I'll be using TruSim's spread sheets for updating players and what a tremendous asset that is!!

I'm going to mainly set these up for exhibition or season play, not franchise, so salaries will not be correct and all players "potential" rating will be at 50, if I don't miss any.

I'm going to actually try to complete each team full, versus doing this in phases so that actual game play testing can happen. Of course, it can only be in some minor league and ST parks, untill they get the graphics ironed out in the emulator, if ever. If anyone knows how to convert these back to a regular PS3 roster, let me know. I'm trying to get a team done per day if possible.

So what do you mean by doing each team in full?

Because of what and how I discovered this will work, it seems better to go through phases 1-5 for an entire team, instead of 5 steps through 30 teams.

Hoping to have the Phillies and Mets fully done today and show off some gameplay and visuals.

Completed Phillies & Mets added to repository reply #2 area.

Discovered after doing 3 teams that it's just gonna be easier to round up or down the attributes to segments of 5. I can't imagine much difference in a "37" and a "35" in any particular category. Almost done with the NL East entirely.

I'm finding that enhancing the "plate discipline" attribute is helping with CPU players having more patience at the plate and not swinging at so much ****. Of course, finding the right slider balance will be important. NL East should be completely done today.

Had to re-do some templates, but finally got MIA done. On to WAS to close out the NL East.

Post #2 updated with NL East completed. There may have been some minor moves I missed, but I need to get a global base and then tweak from there. Same with faces, which are going to be hit and miss.

I'm not posting sliders as those are always a personal choice and cause too much discussion.

Let me know if you see any glaring omissions.

Addendum 1: saw a few changes for some NL East teams and they'll be reflected in the next release.

Addendum 2: able to make both a clean shaven basic Asian template and one with a goatee.

Addendum 3: Cubs should be done today (3/20)

Update: Cubs and Reds completely done in the NL Central. Brewers position players should be done by tonight. Learning more about which faces and combination of some facial hair may be working (with the emulator). Slowly building some good combinations so that eventually every pro will look human, at least. It seems like with the basic templates I'm gathering, you can then do some edits that the game will still like. It's weird though. Some players can use eye black and in others it will cause a distortion. But if you really want to you can seemingly tweak the facial feature like I did in the example below with Haase on the Brewers.

Mackenzie Park has been the go to stadium thus far. Almost zero in game play visual glitches to speak of. Also learned the in-game save feature built into the game works.

How do you get this to work in RPCS3?? I Tried putting your folder from the #2 repository in with the saved data. Does not work at all, all my rosters are at the original 2016 settings.

Where did you find this roster that was almost up to date on youtube?

I can get the NHL Legacy Rosters working, I know where they go.

                              You're using the path?:
                              {Drive Letter}:\RPCS3 Folder\dev_hdd0\home\00000001\savedata

Then you're loading the roster from the usual place in game? This does not take the place of the default roster.
