Good for the rest of the AL East that Cole is out but I don't like to hear about anyone needing Tommy John surgery. That is such a long recovery process.

Makes sense. He definitely not a hitter.

I wonder what the list is of players who were notable hitters and became pitchers in their 30s (or just a full list in general of guys who were longtime major league batters who went on to pitch more than just some 9th inning "we have a position player pitching!" moment)

Rick Ankiel was the reverse where he was a somewhat decent pitcher at the time (finished 2nd in ROY voting in his only real season as an MLB pitcher) but switched to hitting after, but even that happened in his mid 20s.

Anthony Gose wasn't exactly a decent hitter (but he did play almost 400 games in the big leagues) before turning in to a pitcher.

And obviously Ohtani doesn't count since he was a pitcher and hitter almost from the start.

Ben Rice might be a huge piece. I don't want to get too excited about ST. But the kid has raked.

I enjoyed the Dodgers Cubs game today, but I'm not a fan of playing regular season games while spring training is still going on for other teams, and then those two teams go back to playing spring training games too. Major gear grinder,

It is very weird, but it is probably the "cleanest" way to do it without totally screwing up the Dodgers and Cubs, and just general league scheduling, if you try to hold it until end of spring training.

Last day of Spring Training, and also last Sunday of non regular season/playoff baseball/football until February.

Yeah, the Dodgers and Cubs were so close to the end of Spring Training I wish they had played the Tokyo Series yesterday and today instead of the middle of the week and had ened their spring training last Tuesday. Then after finishing the Tokyo game today, resume their regular season next Saturday.

                        Re: Spring Training 2025.

Two local news stories have been sensational this spring.

JC Escara has made the Yankees as a 2nd string catcher, and Hayden Senger is the favorite at the moment to be the Mets backup catcher.

One, a former Uber Driver, and the other a part-time loader at his local grocer.

                        Congrats on making the Show
