Two-Way Contracts Need to Be Updated in NBA 2K

By chance, have you had issues with two-way contracts and roster space in NBA 2K25? Yeah,...

In addition, my friends and I started an online league with 4 expansion teams and the two way players disappeared entirely with no option to turn it back on. All of the two-way players got sent to free agency.

Great article. I’d love to see 2K take some cues from how MLB The Show handles season mode, specifically by allowing users to control their minor league affiliates. It would be great to have the ability to release a Two-Way player but still assign him to a G-League team afterward. The same should apply when a player is signed to a 10-day contract and isn’t re-signed.

Right now, in my current MyNBA season, I’m running into an issue where the Warriors’ G-League team doesn’t have enough players, and the game won’t let me sim to the next day until it’s fixed. The problem is, I can’t directly control the G-League team to sign a free agent and fill the roster. Instead, I have to manually select the Warriors as a user-controlled team and assign a Two-Way player just to move forward. Giving users more G-League control would really streamline the experience.

The only thing wrong with this article is that you CAN send 3 players to the G-League, you just need to have 15 NBA contracts signed. The CPU however can assign more than 3 so that’s the real issue. That along with not having the new rules for 2-way contracts being limited to 50 games and not 45 days anymore.

The game also doesn't know how to handle Hardship contracts. If you assign a 2nd Hardship contract to a player, they will disappear. We have seen many teams who end up w/ multiple Hardship players IRL (The 23 Grizzlies, currently the Sixers).

Team rosters can go up to 21 players IRL during the offseason, and there's no reason for all the restrictions (including trading injured players) to be in place in roster building mode. Even signing players to Two-Way contracts often requires jumping through a ton of hoops and a minutes worth of movement just to make it happen.

They're just too lazy to re-code all this stuff. It's not a word I use often with devs but it applies here.

The game also.doesnt allow 2way guys to be traded, which is possible in real life (ie Reece Beekman)

I'll run into an issue a few times per season where I try to sign a free agent to a Two-Way deal and I'll get a warning before going into the negotiation screen stating something along the lines of I can only sign this player to a Hardship or Two-Way contract. Then when I get into the negotiation screen, I'm locked into only being able to offer a Hardship contract to the player.

Would assume one of two things (assuming you have an open 2W slot):

                1. Player isn't eligible for Two-Way (4 years pro)
                2. All Two-Way days are used up

The 45 days thing is really stupid and the reason the NBA discontinued it was it had no idea how to distinguish for practice / travel dates. Games is much more straightforward.

Not sure what the issue is but the workaround I do is I have to remove the injury from 1 or 2 players on the roster, then it'll allow me the Two-Way option for that free agent. Afterwards, I'll add the injury back to the players that I removed it from.

I agree about the 45 day issue. I have to manually go into each roster about every two months and add the days back to every Two-Way guy.

G-league has never been more important to the real NBA, but 2k still thinks it's a slap in the face to send down a two way player. I haven't played much 25 but last year two way players always dropped overall. Ruined the experience and I could not carry over the next year with correct contracts for 24-25 with the way they botched the 2 way rules.

I turn morale off for this reason. It’s stupid since most two-way guys wouldn’t be completely unsettled playing for the G-League team since it’s within the rules of their contract. It’s pretty dumb the way it works now.
