Re: players not in the game caps

Can i get as CAp of Jose Tabata.. Low single A Yanks outfielder thanks
here a lil report on him

You probably don’t know his name, but the Yankees are betting that you will. What is so special about a kid who hit .314/.382/.417 in Rookie ball last year? Here’s what, he is only 17. Baseball America named Tabata the Yankees’ 3rd best prospect and said that he had the highest potential of any minor leaguer since Soriano.

So, what gives, how come everyone is so high on him? First off, he had the second-hardest player to strike out in the GCL last year. Pretty remarkable when you consider he was also the second-youngest player in the league. Also, he has incredible bat speed and has learned to put backspin on the ball; something that doesn’t usually happen when you are 17.

He is a righty hitter and projects for a corner outfield spot. His arm is solid and he is fast now (22 steals last year), but he will probably slow down as he gets older. He will head to Charleston this year and depending on how well he hits, he could move up quickly. The Yankees weren’t reluctant 20-year old Melky Cabrera into the outfield last year, so we might see Tabata in 2008. Until then, remember his name, you should hear a lot of it.
