    Vince Carter vs. Kobe Bryant

Is it me or do you guys sense that there is some kind of bad blood between Vince and Kobe? Kobe seems to go at him the hardest compared to any of the other shooting guards in the league (okay maybe Ray Allen.) On top of that, Kobe always take the challenge of guarding Vince Carter, while Vince never seems to hardly want to guard him and Vince always seemed to be frustrated when facing Kobe and the Lakers. Usually, Jason Kidd or Richard Jefferson guards Kobe.....is this what separates Kobe from the rest of the league and being pound for pound, the best perimeter player in the league.

I don't think so. VC barely even shot the ball yesterday and I think it was the coaching and Kidd's decisions that made the Nets lose.

VC did seem to be tense down the stretch though, but so was the rest of the team.

There's no doubt, as a player, Kobe is better. But VC has just as much skill, and better dunking ability. Kobe just has more determination. But I think this thread may head down the drain LOL

I don't think there is anymore bad blood. They did get into a little confrontation last year, but I think they're over that. I saw them smiling and laughing during the game yesterday. And Carter actually did guard Kobe at times during the game. Obviously, he had a teammate or two helping him out, but I thought he did pretty good.

Vince gets frustrated with anybody who plays tight defense on him and more often than not gives up after awhile. During his Raptor days Vince would be invisible when Artest or Bowen would guard him tight and I remember Kobe would always crank up the defense when guarding VC back then too.

One reason that Kobe may be motivated to make VC look bad is years back there was the all star game where Kobe had a breakout game and doing some fancy moves and was being heralded as the next Jordan like almost every young hotshot player was back then (there were even MJ comparisons for Stackhouse ). The next season Shaq became the face of the team as Kobe's play dropped a little and I think that was the year of VC and the memorable dunk contest (which Kobe refused to participate amid criticism that he was afraid VC would show him up) and then of course Kobe became old news and VC was being anointed as the next MJ for awhile. It may sound petty but Kobe likes attention and the fact that VC stole his thunder for awhile probably gnaws at him to this day so he tries to show him up whenever he can.

I remember this situation distinctly because the next season I was at the Lakers\Raps game and focused on the VC\Kobe matchup and Kobe was on him like white on rice acting like it was a playoff game and Vince ended up playing horribly.

Kobe isn't afraid to be embarassed it seems to me. He has some good heart. Didn't like the boy at first but then after he started sticking some of the better players, he really made me think twice. People of his "caliber" within the league try to play one end most of the time. I think that Kobe sticking good players is more of an example of him trying to get other players to take the chance and just play good defense. Wish it would work.

I think last year there was a little there after CArter made some comments about the 81 game but I think they have moved on.

There was something before then, but it was all competition.

What I think the confrontation is that Kobe likes to play above everyone else, and it can be argued that on an avereage game (not a breakout 81 pt game) Vince and Kobe are equal offensively, so what does Kobe do, steps it up so he is the top dog, thats all
