Re: Cowboys War Room: 2007 Season
If the Boys can get Columbo resigned, I'll be happy. I'd hate to go in next year hoping one of the young pups can get the job done. Columbo did a great job IMHO last year, he was a very consistant player. We shouldn't compare who makes or misses the Pro Bowl either SoMiss, we all know RW didn't deserve to go last year, as well as a few others from various teams around the league.Comment

And as far as Grant goes, i'd rather see Dallas trade up and go after Landry. For the rest of FA, maybe bring in another OL, and I want to see Edwards in Dallas.Comment

Re: Cowboys War Room: 2007 Season
The LT position is fine. Flozell is the best olineman that Dallas has and i bet you that most teams would love to have him as their tackle. There is not a LT in the game nowadays that is going to dominate every player he goes up against every single play, but Flozell has been solid. He was hurt two years ago and took a while to rehab, but when he has been healthy he has played that position very well. As far as the oline as a whole, its not like they need a huge upgrade on the oline. They just need some consistency there and more depth. Bledsoe is not the QB anymore. They dont need to have the most dominant offensive line in the NFL.
you act like the Cowboys offense was bad last year and that they were giving up sacks left and right. Actually, it was the best offense Dallas has had since 1995, and you cant have a good passing offense with a problem at LT. The defense at the end of the year was the problem, not the offense.

imo, signing Grant is the best bet. Or they can move Henry to FSLast edited by ZB9; 03-05-2007, 05:48 PM.Comment

Re: Cowboys War Room: 2007 Season
true but you can't argue that Gurode had his best season as a Cowboy and also one of the best at his position last year. The fact he was added to the team after the fact is proof enough that others had taken notice with what he did. The difference tween RW and Gurode is Dre didn't get to go based on his reputation.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Cowboys War Room: 2007 Season
Brad Johnson to the Boys. I like this deal. Another mentor for Romo.
Cowboys sign veteran QB Johnson
08:45 PM CST on Monday, March 5, 2007
By TODD ARCHER / The Dallas Morning News IRVING – The Cowboys have another mentor for Tony Romo.
Brad Johnson, who turns 39 in September, signed a three-year contract with the Cowboys worth $7.5 million on Monday, giving the Cowboys some protection should something happen to Romo.
Johnson met with the Cowboys a day after meeting with Denver. He is close with new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, who was his teammate for part of the 2004 season in Tampa Bay.
“He believes he’s going to a team that has a chance to do something special,” Johnson’s agent, Phil Williams, said.
The Cowboys put themselves in the market for an experienced backup when they cut Drew Bledsoe last week, freeing up $6 million in cap space. In addition to Romo, the only other quarterback on the roster is Matt Baker, who spent last season on the practice squad. Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones said the team could add a quarterback in the draft as well.
The Cowboys have needed their backup quarterback because of injury only once since 2003 and that lasted just the first half of the 2004 Thanksgiving game vs. Chicago when Drew Henson started in place of Vinny Testaverde.
The last time Johnson entered the season as a backup came in 2005 with the Vikings. He started the final nine games after Daunte Culpepper suffered a knee injury and finished with a 7-2 record with 12 touchdown passes and four interceptions.
He started 14 games last year and for the third time in his career had more interceptions (15) than touchdowns (nine).
“If something unforeseen happens to Tony we think (going with a more experienced backup) is a better direction right now,” Jones said before coming to an agreement with Johnson.Cowboys sign veteran QB Johnson

Re: Cowboys War Room: 2007 Season
i bet they re-sign Columbo. His market value might not be as high as he thinks right now, because last year was his first full healthy year as a starter. He had some real injury problems in the past...but his value could be really high in a couple of years. He would probably be makin the right move to resign with Dallas for 3 years and imagine it will be for somethin like $7 million with somewhere around a $5 million signing bonus.
the probable starting line is going to be huge this season
Adams 6'7 340
Kosier 6'5 310
Gurode 6'4 325
Davis 6'6 360
Columbo 6'8 330Last edited by ZB9; 03-06-2007, 01:49 PM.Comment

Re: Cowboys War Room: 2007 Season
I am not a big fan of Julius Jones. I wonder what kind of value we could get if we dealt him. I mean could we possibly deal him and our 2nd round pick to oakland for their 2nd round pick?? I mean His brother was traded for about the same thing and I think Julius is better than Thomas Jones and younger. Maybe we could get an additional fourth too...Comment
