Exactly right, it is a way to keep people interested in the game after the Super Bowl. Honestly, I think it will be great fun.

Agreed, but I would much rather see them adding features like this where they can get a new revenue stream as opposed to adding overlay Ads that obscure gameplay. If this makes 'em more $$$ then more power to them on it.

I thought the whole thing was free? Is it not?

It is free to play. But you have the choice to buy packs of cards with real money. You can also get packs of cards through on field achievements.

This with the combination of patch 2, which hopefully fixes a few key things, could be awesome. I'm glad they are doing things to add onto Madden to at least distract us from how unpolished an actual game is. Will probably devote a lot of time, and maybe money, to this.

It's not really an APF rip-off.

This has been something EA offered in its FIFA series for 2-3 years now. And might I say, a fun way to play the game. I don't know if it will translate well into the NFL but in FIFA is was a blast!

Looks like someone had the genius idea of having us Maddenites buy into a whole card game. Im sorry but I am not falling for this

Interesting, I wonder if the FIFA offering was before / after APF2K8? Maybe APF2K8 ripped it off rom FIFA? Either way, I loved the ability to create custom teams to go online, however, with their approach I hope they provide some way to make sure you are playing with fair / balanced teams. That's one thing APF2K8 did that made it really challenging, but then, I view APF2K8 as much more of a chess match than Madden due to problems with gameplay.
