I wonder what the purpose was then?
Did they buy them out simply to remove a competitor, or did they have plans to do something with that engine?
Maybe they did use some of it's code in follow-up baseball games?

2K could still release a game, right? All they've given up is the exclusive license. As someone that owns both a 360 and PS3, I'd like to see a baseball game released next year for the 360. 2K10-12 were steps in the right direction.

Nope. Won't care. MVP updated for 2013 on the PC will work just fine.

Prediction: NO new babseball on Xbox 360 from here on out. If you're extremely lucky then a HD remake of an old Higheat or Power Pros or something like that may get released to Xbox live.

We've seen Baseball and Basketball leave EA, Football and Hockey and Baseball leave 2k, College Hoops leave ev'body, UFC get bounced around, Tennis games crumble, only 1 version of Hot Shots golf...and where are the skating and snowboarding games? Heck, the only Sport that got stronger Across the Board (meaning # of publishers, # of successful IPs, etc.) was Soccer.

This was NOT the gaming generation for the sports gamer.

itll be the same like it has for past couple years. 2k really disturbed the baseball market for 360 owners like myself and i am a big baseball fan. but ever since 2k9 ive lost interest in baseball. so in conclusion this news isnt a big deal at all.

Negative. The way it used to work (and still works with the NBA and NHL) is every developer who wanted to make a game needed to purchase a license. So, for example, you might have 3 companies, each with a license, making a game. Getting an exclusive license just means that nobody else can get one. Now, no third party developer has a license to make MLB games, including 2K.
