R.B.I. Baseball 14 Review (360/PS3)

R.B.I. Baseball 14 is a wonderful trip down nostalgia lane, with classic gameplay straight out of the old console eras. You’ll find a lot to love early on about the game, but if you give it the time of day — you’ll find that the totality of the experience leaves you with little desire to continue playing.

I knew it would be bad as I am sure others did as well. Terrible. Someone needs to step up and make a baseball game on the One, but who and when? I am thinking it will be a while. Might not even happen on this console.

EA should get the MVP series back again. They could probably even build off of 2005's engine if they so wish.

Well, it looks like IGN isn't the only one slamming this game for trying to be like its decades-old predecessor.

Can't say I'm surprised. The game is being universally panned.

EA dropped the ball. They should have taken over the RBI concept. Arcade baseball is too much and sim baseball is too boring. RBI or RBI one was a perfect game.

The more I play RBI 14, the more I like. However, it just needs more budget put into it. It looks like a cheap effort. The good, hitting and fielding is simple fun, the simple rosters is very strategic. I just wish more options, more of building on a great foundation. But again, a simple fun game where less is more.

Clean up the homerun scene, add an edit or create option, more roster option, stats, online. Whatever they do, don't try to make a great thing better. Keep the same hitting pitching, fielding, tiring of a limited selection of pitchers, in fact take a starting pitcher away.

In any event, this could have become a classic.

Fielding is a little tricky for the first couple of games, but once you get a sense of the outfielders starting depth, its really easy! I give up 3-5 hits a game. Setting to Assisted or Automatic is going to be frustrating, because the CPU doesn't play defense as well as you can and they run slower too.
