NHL 15: Hands-On Impressions

It was clear from playing NHL 15 (on PS4) at E3 today that the team at EA Vancouver still needs to optimize some things, but what was there had me believing in a lot of their new vision for the series. I got to run through several games, and the teams on offer include LA, New York, Montreal and Chicago. Producer Sean Ramjagsingh said that the dev team has “about a month to go” in terms of production. Still, while it was early, there was a lot of great stuff to see in this build.

Some good news in there. I like the news about the puke bouncing out of the next and the pile ups in front of the next. Also excited to see how it goes with the goalie being live

There were no five-man celebrations yet, but some producers claimed that they were working on celebrations right now and that there would at least be some three-man huddles (and you now see the whole line skating towards the bench after a goal, which looks good).
By no means is this a deal breaker for me, but honestly, how is this still an issue? NHL2K3, a 12-year-old game from the PS2, had group hugs!!

Also not that happy to hear that board play is still the same. I was hoping that the 'suction boarding' was gone.

Great stuff MMChrisS! Thanks for posting. Always great to read your impressions.

This is really encouraging, thanks for the update! I'm wondering if they have any information at all about the Stanley Cup presentation, as this has been stale for about 6 years now.

Thanks a lot

What about difference in players skills and team styles .. Playing with Kane and toews should be a lot different than playing w 3 rd or 4 th liners. Playing against chicago or LA should feel different than playing against a buffalo or Florida .

2k3 had noticeable differences in players and skills as well as team style differences.
