Re: Project Cars - Car List

Every time I view a racing game's car list I'm looking for an SS Cobalt. I don't care if it's an 06 SS SC or a 08 SS TC.. doesn't matter.

I didn't expect to see one, but I'm still disappointed with the car selection.

I'll likely wait for a purchase now. I won't try to compare the two because they aren't the same kind of racing game, but DriveClub still provides me with plenty of entertainment.

Re: Project Cars - Car List

To me, this game has never been about a car list. What 'm excited about is that it features actual racing, with full race weekends, points championships, etc.

I also enjoy games like Forza and Gran Turismo as the driving model is fairly realistic and the racing is fun but it's completely missing the structure of the real sport. It's like an NBA 2K that would only feature pick up games. I cringe every time someone calls these games great racing sims.

In real racing, there are no 3 lap races between 12 o 16 guys bringing their car to a track and jumping straight into the race. It works great for online but in no way does it represent real racing.

As far as Project Cars goes, the ability to race karts, GT, prototypes and open wheelers, with full grids, practice, qualifying and decent length races on a variety of great circuits is what has me excited. The actual cars could all be generic for all I care, although I do understand that those who care about the car aspect as much or more than the racing aspect may be disappointed.

Very good comparison. I think one of the reason this game will be great is because it has the race weekends, and champtionships, not just one-off, jump in and go race, races.

Very good points and I completely agree, I will be getting the game and enjoying it just as much if the car list was how I wanted. It is just a big let down when I was expecting more along the lines of GT2 manufacture list (Obviously old list, but good example of what I was expecting).

It's a little disappointing to see so few cars available, but new models can be added easily down the road through DLC. I'm waiting to learn more about how the game controls and how solid the AI is, because those things can't be fixed later and are really what could make or break this game.
