EA Will Not Attend E3 This Year, Will Host EA Play Instead, From June 12-14

After years of being one of the staples of E3, EA will not have a presence at E3 this year. Instead, they will host EA Play, from June 12 through June 14 with press conferences held that Sunday at 1:00 PM PT.

The event will be in Los Angeles, CA (Club Nokia at LA Live) and London (The Mermaid) - June 12 ONLY. EA plans to show off their upcoming new games and demos, publicly to fans, and allow them to get hands-on time at the event. For those of you that can't attend, EA will be streaming from the event. Tickets will be required to attend the event, but they haven't mentioned how they will be distributed.

E3 2016 takes place from June 14 through June 16.

And we are witnessing E3 starting to die in terms of importance. There are a hell of a lot of games that are under the EA umbrella.

I don't know...EA is the only company with a wide range of properties on phone/console/pc (shooters/sports/casual) that could pull this off. The E3 platform probably doesn't give them enough latitude of freedom or scale to show people what they have brewing. I wouldn't read that deeply into it.

EA still thinks enough of EEE to want to still be fairly close together.
