After going 3-6 on the road trip, the Rangers embark on a ten-game home stand, beginning with a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers. This is the last series of the season for the Rangers against the American League East. The Brewers have lost four of their last five. The Brewers lead the season series 5-4. Lockwood walked the next three batters to load the bases with nobody out. Lockwood then set Harrah down on strikes for the first out. King then grounded into the 4-6-3 to end the inning. In the top of the sixth, Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners at the corners and one out, Lockwood left the game with a back injury. Ray Newman took the mound for the Brewers. Biittner brought home one with a single. After six: Milwaukee 3 Texas 2. In the top of the seventh, Conigliaro brought home two with a two-out double. Heise brought the go-ahead run home with an infield single. Brett followed with a two-RBI single. With runners at first and second and one out, Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers and stopped any more runs from coming in. In the bottom of the sixth, a Billings two-out single scored one. After six: Milwaukee 5 Texas 3. In the top of the seventh, with a runner on first and one out, Jan Dukes took the mound for the Rangers. The Brewers again loaded the bases with one out. Lahoud took ball four on a full count pitch to bring home a run. The next batter, Heise, got a two-RBI single. May knocked in two with a two-out single. In the top of the eighth, Dave Tomlin took the mound for the Rangers. Theobald got a two-out RBI double. In the top of the ninth, Heise scored from second on a two-out single by Dwain Anderson plus a Ted Ford throwing error. Anderson then scored when Ford dropped a flyball from the bat of pinch hitting John Felske. In the bottom of the ninth, Jerry Cram took the mound for the Brewers. In the top of the seventh, a two-out RBI single by Carew tied things up. With a runner on first and two out, Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers. Thompson got a two-out RBI single to give the Twins the lead. In the bottom of the eighth, Dave LaRoche took the mound for the Twins. In the top of the ninth, Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers. In the bottom of the ninth, the Rangers got a lead off single but it was wiped out when Nelson grounded into the 6-4-3.
