My question: is it considered Next Gen and does it get the same updates as the Series X and PS5? I don’t want to buy an obsolete system that won’t get all the newest bells and whistles (or the upcoming college football and EA golf game if they are Next Gen exclusive).

XBOX Series S
My PS4 finally spazzed out and I’m trying to get a PS5 but to no avail. I’m considering jumping to the XBOX Series S because I’m not a dead-serious gamer, it’s cheaper and more available.

The S series is the X series without the disk drive and smaller initial storage. I think there is a graphics difference if you have newer TV.My PS4 finally spazzed out and I’m trying to get a PS5 but to no avail. I have had my S for a year now love it.
To answer your question though it is like the PS5 bargin console. Its a PS5 just less bells and whistles. Same with the X to S. If you are not big on disc games the S is just fine in my opinion.Comment

Re: XBOX Series S
The ps5 disc and discless versions are the same unlike the s and x. If you go s you get a graphics drop. Ps5 is same across the board in every facet just no disc. The S series is the X series without the disk drive and smaller initial storage. I think there is a graphics difference if you have newer TV.

Re: XBOX Series S
i was also considering getting an s but i've seen conflicting reports on the quality. Some say it's fine (being that it is 1080p and not 4k) and others say games look significantly worse than on their previous gen x1xComment

Re: XBOX Series S
For the most part, the games looked good on my 4k tv when I had the Series S. I will say that the quality will be different if you play any Xbox One games that aren't optimized for current gen because the S plays the One S version of games while the Series X plays the One X Enhanced version. But if you have a 1080p tv/monitor you would be good to go. I would recommend it if you can't get a Series X or PS5."Dunks are tough, but when a 35 footer come rainin out the sky...it'll wire you up"Comment

Re: XBOX Series S
Main downside with the S is it'll likely be obsolete in a couple years. The X is more future proof. They're not too hard to find if you use reddit too. If you're not a huge gamer though the S will get you next gen gaming so it's probably worth it.Comment

Re: XBOX Series S
Series S is great. It is an upgreade over the Ps4. Faster Load times, processing, qick resume, etc.
Plus Gamepass and EA All Play or whatever it's called.
You can play Madden for 10 hours with all the folks that purchase the expensive versions.
Graphics compared to Series X and Ps5 are not as polished but it is still darn good.
For the pricepoint totally worth it. Especially if just really playing sports games. We have all 3 and Series S can hold it's own. Quick resume is a fun an underatted feature.
It's also super small and easy to add to any gameing setup.
If you are a PS guy and will get a ps5 eventually grab this bad boy and have a blast while you wait.Last edited by TecmoZack; 07-20-2022, 09:49 AM.Dallas Sports!Comment

Re: XBOX Series S
Well, I think I’m sold. Thank you all for the input. I have a smallish TV so graphics aren’t a huge deal, and the price point seems fair for a next-gen system that’ll support the games I play.
To the store (or hoping my wife knows I want this for my upcoming birthday)!Comment
