    Real 2K Rosters - The Modern Era (NBA 2K24) - PS5

Real 2K Rosters is now in it's 21st season of editing 2K rosters. The goal of every season is to provide daily updates that reflect the current state of the NBA as accurately as possible. The "Living Roster", if you will.

    PATREON for Spreadsheet Access
    patreon.com/real2krosters

I spend about 1,000 hours every year working on the file as a labor of love. You do not need to re-sub monthly to continue to access the file - I grant season-long access to the document. Last year I soft-launched this content via Paypal & DM (intentionally limiting access). I'm ready to actually go public this year. Any support is deeply appreciated. It takes a lot of time and sacrifice to continue releasing content on an annual basis.

    YouTube Channel
    youtube.com/c/real2krosters

I enjoy making team/player focused content every now and then to explain what I'm doing in my roster. I try to treat it like a 30-60 minute podcast episode with a visual aid. My activity level has been a bit sporadic over the last two years due to limited availability. A recent change in employment should rectify that. My days of 10-12 hour shifts or 60-hour work weeks are in the rearview mirror (for the moment anyway).

Didn't realize when making forum topic but rosters are CROSS-PLATFORM this year.

    PLAYER RATINGS
All ratings are reviewed and updated throughout the season, sticking as closely as possible to 2K's attribute scales. These are my long-standing expertise & what my content has been known for over the past two decades.

    BADGES
All player badges are reviewed and updated using NBA data, sticking with 2K's scales. This is the other area I'm more in-depth on than anyone else in the game, 2K Sports included.

    VITAL INFORMATION
-Positions are the most accurate in the 2K Community and updated regularly.
-Height, Weights, Jersey Numbers are kept updated in line w/ the NBA's official data.
-Injuries will be managed as necessary (for minor injuries, I won't sideline a player unless they miss a week).
-Contracts are as up to date as possible using data from Spotrac.
-Force Non-Starter is applied liberally to ensure accurate team rotations.

    TENDENCIES
-Done as necessary, focusing on players with significant role changes (think Lauri Markkanen going from CLE to UTA). I collect more data on Tendencies within my Spreadsheet (shot data) than what I actually have time to implement.

    MY STAFF
Work in progress. The odds of content release improve if 2K develops a better editing interface.

    TEAM PLAYBOOKS
These are not a focus. I prefer to leave those to the experts.

    PLAY TYPES
Synergy Data is in my spreadsheet, it's just a matter of cycling through 500 players.

    CLASSIC & ALL-TIME TEAMS
At present I will not be focusing on any of these without a monetary donation. I actually love working on these things it's just a question of time.

    MY ERAS CONTENT
-Major Work in Progress. I would probably need to hire someone in order to tackle this effectively.
-I think waiting a year is beneficial in that 2K is adding a few missing players. They are also adding/removing a ton of badges this year. Staying up to date with 500 players on those is hard enough, much less 2,000.

    MODERN ERA UPDATE HISTORY
9/8/23: Release day. Adjusted a few positions but primarily crunched some of the new badges.

9/12/23: Positions updated league-wide. Spreadsheet updated w/ 9/8 OVRs and Archetypes. Spreadsheet Contract information finished.

10/13/23: Lots of updates (I keep a more active log within the spreadsheet). I have about 40 of the top 50 players fully edited.

A true blessing to see the roster again. I will take some elements of it and implement it to my roster, with proper shoutouts of course.

      Crunched the badges to determine....

Bunny, Scooper, Spin Cycle, Whistle, Spot Finder, Big Driver, Blow-By, Speed Booster

16 Re-Branded / Returning (Retitled due to a revision / previous existence in older 2K)
Float Game, Hook Specialist, Precision Dunker, Two Step, Free Points, Open Looks, Post Fade Phenom, Physical Handles, Relay Passer, Touch Passer, Triple Strike, Immovable Enforcer, Fast Feet, Right Stick Ripper, 94 Feet, Bulldozer

7 Removed (Back to the drawing board - Sometimes these get merged with other badges)

For the people that want a slider set, you can start with superstar default. 2k did a great job with sliders this season but HOF is extremely difficult.

          ALL-STAR (85-89) = 4 TOTAL
89 (+3) Lauri Markkanen (UTA) (ALL-STAR, MOST IMPROVED)
          88 (+3) Brandon Ingram (NOP)
          88 (+3) Khris Middleton (MIL)
          85 (+3) Bojan Bogdanovic (DET)

          STARTER (80-84) = 17 TOTAL

          83 (+1) Franz Wagner (ORL)
          83 (+2) Jaden McDaniels (MIN)
          82 (-1) Scottie Barnes (TOR)
          82 (+2) Keldon Johnson (SAS)
          82 (+1) Tobias Harris (PHI)
          82 (+3) Harrison Barnes (SAC)
          82 (NC) Andrew Wiggins (GSW)
          81 (-2) Kyle Kuzma (WAS)
          81 (+3) Gordon Hayward (CHA)
          81 (+4) Josh Okogie (PHX)
          80 (-2) R.J. Barrett (NYK)

          78 (NC) Max Strus (CLE)
          76 (+4) John Konchar (MEM)

NEWCOMERS: Dillon Brooks and Max Strus were the only starters to change teams. Brooks replaced Kenyon Martin Jr, replaced internally by John Konchar. Strus should win the job over Isaac Okoro.

POSITION CHANGE: Tatum played PF last year but slides back down to natural position w/ Porzingis acquisition. Strus was Tyler Herro's backup at SG but will bring some much needed shooting next to Garland/Mitchell. Desmond Bane could be at SF following Ja Morant's suspension. Paul George, Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby are natural SFs and could end up back here.

TEN BEST BACKUPS: Buddy Hield, Josh Hart, Kelly Oubre Jr, Brandon Miller, Kenyon Martin Jr, Joe Ingles, Keita Bates-Diop, Ausar Thompson, Gary Payton II, Corey Kispert

TRADE CANDIDATES: Bogdanovic, Hayward, and Hield are all unlikely to end the season on their respective teams due to their contract situations. DeMar DeRozan, Kyle Kuzma and Tobias Harris are also possibilities.

BREAKOUT CANDIDATES: Franz Wagner (3rd year), Scottie Barnes (3rd year), Bennedict Mathurin (2nd year), Brandon Miller (post-deadline), Ausar Thompson (post-deadline)

BUST CANDIDATES: LeBron James (Age), Khris Middleton (Health), Bojan Bogdanovic (Role post-DET)

X-FACTORS: Dillon Brooks (Will he rein in offensively?), Josh Okogie (was 3pt improvement real?), Max Strus (is he closer to 2022 or 2023?)

Will accessories be updated for players as well? That will keep the season fresh

This is such an awesome piece of work, can't believe I haven't discovered it before now! I'm an immersion head and always struggle with wanting an as up to date NBA "world" as possible (to the point of wanting the correct 2-way guys), but also not wanting to wait for opening night.

One question - I can see you've added in injuries as "personal reasons" rather than the actual injury type. Is that to stop them healing too quickly?

Is Patreon the only way I can donate some $$ for your hard work?

It's because physical injuries will decrease OVR and overcomplicate things.

Patreon is how you get access to the Spreadsheet. You could technically send me an individual PayPal donation, but you're better off starting there.
