Madden 24 PS5 1984 Roster

I will update the second post as I go. Like normal, I will upload the roster after I have some teams done and then continue to update the roster when I finish a few more teams.

For those who have used my rosters before, this one will be the same high quality classic roster you are used to. For those who have not used my rosters before here is what my rosters are like:
Full team rosters, correct equipment (or as close as Madden will allow), correct heights and weights; age and years of experience as close as possible; correct colleges; QBs, Ks, and Ps who are left handed will be left handed.

Ratings: I have my own rating system that I have developed over the years and the emphasis is on creating better gameplay. While overall the ratings are similar to EAs ratings, there are a few differences. QBs tend to be lower overall, TEs are not as highly rated, DBs are better at Press (especially for these older rosters) Again, the ratings will work with EAs ratings overall, but I do believe that my adjustments make for a better overall gaming experience.

Please feel free to use this thread to discuss the 1984 season, thoughts on the roster, and once I upload the roster let me know if you see any mistakes.

Sounds good, before you get to evolved I would like to request a catalog sorta speak for playbooks in game for franchise mode.

If you can cover 1985 - 1989. Specifically the offensive and defensive Schemes, and in game playbooks the teams used would be great, or as close as possible, since you have so much knowledge concerning that area.

The generic West Coast may can be used, but I'm sure not for every team.

There should be draft classes going from 85 - 89 I'll look into that, maybe I can create the names of them and let you edit since you have a system for it.

I will put some of that together eventually, but with my limited time right now, my focus is on working on the roster. I have done very little with playbooks for this year so far. In the limited play that I have done, I have been using the Run Heavy playbook a bit, but that is about all.

As for draft classes, from what I hear, currently the player models are broken. I don't know if I will do anything at all with draft classes. I have done some in past years, but I rarely end up actually ever using them. While I like the idea of playing multiple seasons with classic rosters and draft classes, the process of making draft classes is so slow and I rarely get much out of the immense amount of time I spend. Not saying I won't do a draft class, but currently not in my list of things to do.

Just so everyone knows where I am currently on the roster:

I have the Browns and Dolphins done. I have played a couple of games and part games with those two teams and have been generally happy with the results.

I have the Steelers offense done as of last night. I also have the 49ers players named and colleges done, but have not done equipment or ratings.

My plan is to post the roster once I have the AFC Central (Browns, Steelers, Bengals, and Oilers) done, along with the Dolphins and 49ers.

Please be patient as I simply do not have much time to edit rosters this Fall. I generally only get about an hour or time Monday-Thursday, no time Friday, and a variable time on weekends. Sometimes I only get a couple of hours total on weekends, and sometimes I get several hours over the weekend. So gain, please be patient. I am working on it whenever I can. I am hoping the roster can be finished before Thanksgiving, but I honestly do not know if I will get it done by then or not.

Take as much time as you need, I'm still playing your 86 with Carl's full draft classes from madden 20.

I wasn't aware of that draft class glitch I hope it can be fixed.

Madden is fun, kinda a bummer about Washington unis and field art, commanders just doesn't seem right when you say redskins football.

Eh nothing stays the same.

Anyway take as much time as ya need, whatever you release I'm sure it will be just fine. 👍

Just finished the 49ers tonight. I will be onto the Bengals starting tomorrow. Once I have the Bengals and Oilers done I will upload the roster for folks to start trying things out.

I am also trying to do some testing along the way.

Wanted to give everyone a quick update. I am still working on the roster, just moving slow. My own football season is taking the majority of my time right. heading into week 10 and then the playoffs.

As for the roster, I have the AFC Central done and am currently working on the NFC West. I have the 49ers and Rams done and I am in the process of doing ratings for the Saints and Falcons.

Just wanted to give a quick update on the roster. I finished the NFC West and started working on the AFC East.

HS football season is now over, except the award's banquet which is tomorrow, so I will have more time to work on the roster each day.

Oh course now that I have some extra time to work on the roster, EA's latest update creates new issues.

If you are not aware there are 2 big issues I am upset about right now.

1: This is not game breaking, but certainly annoying. When editing player faces, the pictures in the editing screen are all blank. The face appears on the body correctly and the picture shows up on the player card, but it slows the process down. Why EA? Why can you not fix something without causing a new issue? Does anyone do quality control BEFORE a patch is released?

2: This one is far more severe. It deals with 3-4 defenses. There is currently a glitch which does not correctly put the DLine in the correct positions when in and 3-4 base defense. From what I can tell it uses the rushing linemen in the depth chart for the base lineman, but it a strange way. I am not going to try to explain it, but it is a problem. Especially for a 1984 roster when MOST teams use a 3-4 defense.

I am going to continue to work on the roster for right now in the hopes that EA will fix both issues quickly. However, I will say I am close to shelving this game. If these issues, especially the 3-4 issue is not fixed quickly, I will be going back to an earlier version of Madden.

Every time I get the urge to work on rosters for this game I get irritated very quickly with the editing process.

I miss when things were so much simpler with the older games to edit
