So basically in 4, it was impossible to win your first career fight. In 5, it's impossible to lose it. I'm also stoked that they addressed the multiple knockdown issue. I only counted 8 of them in the first 2 minutes of the first career mode fight. On legendary. On sim. This looks like its truly "as real as it gets."

This disappointed me immediately too. At least once the HUD disappeared later in the vid we did see a one-hitter quitter KO but I need to see more simulation mode gameplay before I'm convinced.

looks same as ufc4 lol.. the gameplay looks much worse with low rating fighter. knockdown and easy get up over and over... i can't believe.. they didn't touch kd system. knockdown should be more rare.. it needs multiple levels of rock and animations before knockdown.

Honestly: I'm pretty far from impressed with it. It all points to the exact same formula: a couple of movies after the first 5 fights and then it's on auto-fight mode. Exciting... except it's not and they removed more stuff. There's actually seems less choice of clothing (no short vale tudo pants I see; why the hell did they remove that? No coloured venom shorts).


People are so brainwashed by their business practices that you see them asking: "can we still do this?" "can we still do that?", and be overjoyed when they can. I'm tired of these content creators acting like this stuff is new, exposing that they barely played the previous game. For instance: it's not new that you get to pick a background. It was there all along. The only "new" thing is that you start with a perk? Wow, this limits the player even more. The fact that they showcase this tells us that there's literaly nothing new.

In the end this feels like a "port" of EAUFC4 to their "new" engine. Hopefully the 6th installment will be worth it. Will still try the demo though, and in those 10 hours I'll probably run through all the new content.

Instead of adding replay value by having different preludes: grappling tournaments, muay thai using their "MK" arena, backyard boxing,... No, just use the same premade package to run through, including an auto-win and some boring startup fights. But I guess they've determined that their favorite audience, the casuals, only play it once, and the others just put up with it.

To be fair: it's the first fight. They need to create a feeling of progressing difficulty imo. You should be fighting nothing but bums there.

Gonna play the 10 hour trial (thanks EA play) but this really is exactly the same as UFC 4, kinda insane that there was such a big gap and so little changed. They didn't even have Dana White's voice in there.

If there was any bigger changes to Career Mode they'd have mentioned it by now, so I feel like this game's a skip for me, I'll wait for Undisputed's career mode beta instead. It's a shame that the game's made so few changes/additions but on the upside at least we know before release so there's no surprise. £70 saved!

This is expected. It’s EA sports after all haha. They make minimal changes to their games. I really hope the people who say they won’t buy it stick to their guns, but realistically I’ve been someone who said they won’t and still do because I just want to play an mma game. It’s unfortunate but this is pretty much as expected

That's the awkward part. The thing is that - though I disliked several aspects of EAUFC4 - in the end I had a nice experience with its career mode. I spend several 10's of hours on the game and did enjoy it, so 70$ (or 68$, its real cost) is not a waste of money, especially for those with a tight gaming budget. And for me, right now there just aren't any other games that interest me.

The only reason I would really hold back is to "teach them a lesson", but... you're not, really. Only thing to hope for is that some other company jumps into the genre. Would take some effort to produce a similarly styled game, but at least that would threaten them losing a LOT of sales. A couple of 100 people making a "statement" really doesn't do anything.

As for coach Davis, "everyone's favorite coach", except nobody ever said that. They did give him a 'character', but he comes off as an unprofessional lower league coach that should be overjoyed he's training an actual UFC fighter. If I didn't know any better, I'd guess he was a gym owner.

Well yeah, there should be progressing difficulty and you should be fighting cans at the get go. That said, WE are also cans stat wise from the get go. Legit 8 kd's in the first 2 minutes is insanity. 1 hit quit, yeah i can see that 100%. Being knocked down 8 times? Yeah, no.

I hear that, I think I bought ufc for around 20/30 on sale as well. But the points still holds that we aren’t really hurting them with our wallets by still buying the game. It’s the sad reality I’ve kind of accepted at this point. I want an mma game and I’ll buy this one. EA is too big and frankly doesn’t care about my opinion as an offline player as almost everything I’ve seen is not for my type of play… with the exception of simulation which at this moment doesn’t look like a true simulation style.

I'm fortunate enough that $90 for the deluxe edition pre-order isn't alot for me. But, im at a point where I don't wanna support EA at all. But then, I don't have an MMA game to play. 90% of my gaming is on UFC 4 (and before that it was 90% on 3 and then 2 going all the way back to the oldest MMA games in existence as they released). And for some reason, I just cant go backwards and play EA 3 even though I loved it by the time the dev cycle ended. I'm a universe guy and roster is really important to me.

Buying at almost 100 or waiting a few months and buying it for 20 or not buying it at all won't change a thing about how EA runs their business. So I'll just get it and try and make the best of what I'm given even though it AGAIN is missing a quintessential part of the sport and it AGAIN has taken control over my CAFs outta my hands. Still can't even use event mode because while 50 CAFs is better than 22 offline universe players need multiple profiles to fill out the roster realistically.
