Converting Xbox saves to PS2

I've been searching all over the net and OS but just can't seem to find out how to convert xbox saves into ps2 saves(.xbx to .max). I know that people have been doing it with FNG roster, but I'm hoping to learn how so I could do it whenever there is a new update so I don't have to wait for someone else to do it for me.

Re: Converting Xbox saves to PS2

I haven't fooled with this since 2006 when I got my 360, so the process is a little fuzzy in my mind right now, but I believe I just used a program called PS2 Save Builder. I do remember that whatever I done was a really simple process, just a few clicks and I was done. I still have all of my various programs I have used over the years, but i'm not at home so I can't look through my folder of PS2 stuff to help any further right now. I'll look through it all whenever I get home and get the chance and see if I can be of some help.

If you want to go ahead and check it out, here is a link to the page where you can download it. It is at the bottom of the list. PS2SaveBuilder

Here's another program I haven't used before, but it looks like it may do the same job, PS2SaveConverter

As I said, it's been a long time since I fooled with this kind of stuff, but i'm pretty sure PS2SaveBuilder is what I used. I know I used that program for something, just not sure if it was the one that allowed me to convert Xbox to PS2 and vice versa. If not, sorry, i'll see if I can figure out how I did it and will get back to you if I do.

Re: Converting Xbox saves to PS2

Just got home and checked through my files. Here's the directions I saved. Hope this helps.

1. Download the PS2 Save Builder program.
2. Obtain a legit PS2 roster file.
3. Obtain the targeted XBOX file.
4. Open the ZIP file that is the XBOX roster and find the largest file
(maybe a few directories deep) It will be a .DAT file.
5. Copy that file to any location.
6. Open the PS2 file in Save Builder.
7. You will see a BASLUS file. Rename the .DAT file to whatever the
name of the BASLUS file is (remove the .dat extension also)
8. Right click and delete the BASLUS file in Save Builder.
9. Paste the new BASLUS (the old .DAT file) into the spot where
the previous file was.
10. Save.
11. Open in Finn's editor and hit OK on the error that pops up.
12. Save.

Hey, thanks alot. I think this will help a lot of other people too now that we don't have to wait for any one person to convert the rosters.

So will this work with the editor version that didn't support ps2 AND the one that did. Or will it work with only one of them? If so, which one?

EDIT: Tried it with Finn's Editor 4.0 and when I tried loading inside 2k5 it said that the file is damaged and unable to load.

I don't know then, sorry. It's been so long since I fooled with PS2 files I don't remember what I did. Not even sure if the method I posted is how I did it, that's just some directions I found in a text document with all of my save related stuff. Maybe someone else who still does this can help.

Edit: Just re-read your last post again. I would assume that you need to use Finn's editor that supports PS2 saves. I've not tried anything like this, but on the newer versions where he removed the PS2 feature, doesn't that mean that you can't even load a PS2 file with it? And if that's true then how did you follow all those directions I posted, cause unless i'm wrong version 4.0 won't work with PS2 files.

Re: Converting Xbox saves to PS2

4.0 does support ps2 files. It supports ps2(.max) xbox(.zip) and ps3(.psv)

Ok, so from my understanding, the only problem is that the ps2 game is not allowing me to open up an edited gamesave. Now, I am playing on a backup, and I know Finn has said that editing something in the files would allow the game to skip the check on whether the save was edited or not.

If I was told on what to edit, reburned the game, then loaded it up, it should work. With that being said, I need Finn to tell me how to get the game to skip the check

EDIT: Ok, so I skipped the process of opening the file in Finn's Editor, and got the game to read the file as a roster file and not "damaged". But when I try to load it it simply says "Unable to load (name) on memory card slot 1"
