Revis vs Woodson - DPOY discussion

I'm biased because i've been a huge fan of his for a while, but I'm gonna say Woodson.

9 picks, 3 pick 6's great run support and has forced a lot of fumbles.

Revis' shutting down of star WR's speaks for itself. I've never seen anything like this since Deion.

If they can give it to both, they should.

Re: Revis vs Woodson - DPOY discussion

I would probably give the edge to Woodson mainly because he plays multiple spots in the secondary: CB, Nickel & Safety where as Revis (although dominant) plays one. On top of that, Woodson really elevated his game after his teammate, Harris, went down for the season which put more pressure on Woodson from a schematic stand point.

Either way, you can't go wrong with either guy.

It pisses me off that great seasons by Champ Bailey went unnoticed, and guys that had "similar" years are now in the front-running for DPOY.

But his inclusion in the discussion is made completely moot by the fact that his team didn't even make the Playoffs. IMO, you can't be considered for any POY type awards unless your team makes it in.... unless the player somehow just had a season where his performance was completely off the charts.

Really hard to argue against Woodson with the numbers he's done and also considering he's played 3 different positions without having any type of drop in his production.

Another thing also to nibble on is that the older Woodson got, the better he's gotten over the years, especially in GB.

In 2005, Champ Bailey had 8 interceptions, 2 returned for touchdowns, a forced fumble, 23 passes defensed according to profootball reference and really was a huge spark for that Bronco team that went 13-3 and to the AFC Championship game. The following year, he had 10 picks, 1 TD, a fumble recovery and was just as good, but finished 2nd in the voting. I think one of those seasons deserves more recognition, especially now the way Revis is talked about.
And I think it is ridiculous that you have to be on a playoff team in order to win any POY award. I guess Chris Johnson shouldn't win any award?
