Bars next to player?

What do the bars next to a player that has the ball mean? I've noticed that they also change color from yellow to red or blue. Does this have any significance?
My guess is that it signifies a shooting streak. Blue for cold and red for hot?

It tells you how far away you are from the rim.

I have 3 bars from three point range but rose has 4 bars from three point range.
I also used to have 2 bars from three point range until I worked on it.

Ya I noticed that after I shot 3 3pt shots and a 2pt, my bars next to my name were red.

The bars show you how likely the ball is going in from that distance. Red - hot, yellow - neutral, blue - cold.

The bar indicates how good the player stats are at that spot on the court. The more colored bars the better that player is at shooting from that spot. It will change as the player moves around the court. You are right about the color part of the bar. Color is streak the player is currently on blue = color, yellow = no streak either way, red = hot steak.
